Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
The Maintenance Supervisor has to organize, monitor, and supervise maintenance operations and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to building maintenance. Ensure activities are performed safely, within budgets and in strict compliance with regulatory and maintenance standards consistent with expectations of the business.
Perform disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Follow-up on job quality and crew productivity.
Assure maintenance team have the necessary equipment and materials according to contract specifications.
Follow-up on maintenance operation to assure team are performing up to company standards, and contract specifications:
Spot-check calibrations on appropriate systems, equipment inspections, safety inspections and team paperwork for accuracy and legibility.
Provide follow-up training with employees in the field.
Assure employees are complying with all Regulatory and Company Safety Policies and Procedures
Supervise work performed by external contractors and unionized staff to meet requirements
Enforcing labour agreements including requests for overtime, scheduling, grievances, investigations, discipline, etc.
Ensure CN Safety Standards are met and followed by internal and external maintenance employees
Perform daily safety briefing
Respond to requests for maintenance work from CN employees located in their respective region, evaluate request and determine the most effective way to resolve the issue.
Interact with senior management personnel in Operations (i.e., Directors, Superintendent, etc.) relating to repair and maintenance requests.
Ensure scheduled preventative maintenance is performed on critical infrastructure noting work completion in CN data base
Complete a prioritized assessment of buildings on your territory and schedule for repair or replacement as required to submit to Manager for approval
Outsource RFP or multiple bids for facility maintenance within delegation of authority
Responsible for cost centre budgets including prioritizing discretionary spending
Experience/Skill/Functional Knowledge required:
Knowledge of building maintenance system preferably with a Trade Certification or University Degree.
Must posses a minimum of 5 years experience as a facility supervisory within a Unionized Environment.
Possesses a valid Drivers License
Ability to prioritize work load and manage expectations of customers and employees.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem solving/resolution skills.
Works well under pressure and capable of dealing with stress.
