This position performs the duties of Facilities Maintenance Specialist-Advanced for Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) and Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC). This position is required to maintain, repair, and design manual, electric, and electronic locking systems and hardware, electronically controlled gates and doors, maintain key security and inventories, maintain updated written and computerized records, and act as a consultant to facility supervision for projects/ special requests. This position also performs general maintenance duties on (but not limited to) the following systems: heating, plumbing, electrical and ventilation and assist other trades when needed.
This position submits monthly estimates of materials needed to perform assigned tasks, keep accurate logs, complete work orders through the TMA computerized work order system and submit written reports as required. This position works around patients and is responsible for the security of tools and keys.
Special Notes: Due to the nature of these positions, all applicants will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a Caregiver background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
Applicants must have physical ability to lift 80+ pounds. A physical assessment may be required prior to hire.
Minimally qualified candidates will have:
Experience operating power tools (e.g. pinning kits, key duplicator, code cutting machine) and hand tools(e.g. hammer, screwdriver, chisel, wrench) required to repair, modify, and install electrical and/or electronic locking systems.
Ability to maintain safety and security while working in areas with patients and/or inmates.
Possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
In addition, well-qualified candidates will also have:
Experience or training related to maintaining plumbing facilities and HVAC equipment.
Experience or training related to maintaining/repairing commercial food service equipment.
Experience or training related to maintaining and/or repairing all types of mechanical locking systems to include commercial and detention hardware.
Experience or training related to manufacturing keys for mechanical locking systems.
Experience or training related to resetting and rekeying locking systems.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
