AutoZone's Maintenance Manager provides support to AutoZone retail stores within an assigned multi-state geographical area. The Maintenance Manager oversees and manages all maintenance operations to ensure stores are operating at optimal capacity. The Maintenance Manager will forecast and budget maintenance projects as well as negotiate with vendors. The Maintenance Manager will select, train, and manage Maintenance Technicians.


  • Provides high level customer service

  • Ability to travel overnight frequently

  • Plans and executes capital and repair budgets of assigned stores

  • Reviews and develops scopes of work, requests bids and supervises remodel and renovations of assigned stores

  • Manages extensive vendor database and negotiates with outside vendors for supplies, repairs and other measures

  • Manages, trains, and selects new Maintenance Technicians

  • Monitors and manages the Energy Management System for all assigned stores

  • Establishes, prioritizes, and monitors routing and work assignments for assigned employees

  • Communicates regularly with all Maintenance Technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues

  • Performs routine store visits to identify and perform building and ground repair work

  • Directs Maintenance Technicians on preventative maintenance, routine repairs as well as troubleshooting involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair on assigned stores

  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary

  • Maintains a safe driving and working environment, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Monitors maintenance on vehicles assigned to Maintenance Technicians

  • Follow all company policies, procedures and management direction, including all fleet and safety policies

  • Complies with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules (OSHA) while carrying out maintenance functions

  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Facility Management, Construction Sciences, Industrial Engineering or relate field of study.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience as a maintenance manager (management experience preferred)
  • HVAC certifications preferred but not required
  • 21 years or older

Job purpose Efficiently operate and maintain buildings, systems and equipment for various car rental locations. Interpret technical issues to prevent equipment and facilities downtime and proactively pursue building, equipment and maintenance related issue. Develop and maintain strong relationships with business unit customers and stakeholders. Facilities Maintenance Technician position requires administrative duties, working with tools to complete work orders as necessary, and maintaining maintenance metrics. Key responsibilities: * Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed including nights weekends and holidays. * Coordinate and Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize business interruption and ensure that buildings, systems and equipment meet or exceed their rated life * Perform minor construction as directed by Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician and Facilities Management * Record and maintain Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) data to develop maintenance history, plans, and account for labor hours * Monitor service providers as directed by Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician and Facilities Management Key-result areas * Ensure that buildings, systems and equipment are maintained to standards for the business units * Adhere to facilities standards to ensure consistent delivery maintenance services * Manage Service Providers ongoing maintenance standards, quality and costs to ensure delivery is as contracted and is appropriate. * Support asset assessment programs to provide condition codes for capital planning and risk mitigation. * Ensure appropriate and consistent reporting of the facilities programs and issues to Facilities Management Mandatory Requirements Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Professional Experience: * Minimum of four years in a similar or related role and working with service providers * Building and grounds general maintenance * Understanding of systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, car washes, vacuum systems and fuel stations * Construction, repair and maintenance * Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and PC skills such as email, Word and Excel; * Environmental considerations Skills: * Effectively communicate with all stakeholders * Self-motivated * Work in and with teams to provide necessary services Physical Demands: Candidates must be able to work in hazardous surroundings and at heights up to 60'. The employee will be required to safely walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see and hear. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions including wet, humid, cold, and heat.
