Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a 1st shift Facility Landscape Technician to support our operations & maintenance team in Lafayette, IN!

  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm; hours may vary based on business demand.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: grounds maintenance and basic building maintenance as directed by their Team Leader. Provide maintenance activities to ensure optimum presentation of customer's building and site.

This position also performs general labor functions for the site, including Operating and maintaining vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, snow blowers, plow trucks, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws. Caring for established lawns by fertilizing, mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, snow blowers, plow trucks, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws

  • Care for established lawns by fertilizing, mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls

  • Utilize hand tools to perform snow and lawn service

  • Grounds clean up including trash pick up

  • Move office furniture

  • Assembly of shelving

  • Replacing lamps

  • Painting, touchup, and cleaning as required

  • Safe operation of Fork truck and scissor lifts as required

  • Run plant floor cleaning equipment

  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1.High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, kneel, reach/stretch, and move in a 90-degree fashion during workday.

  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.

  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Other Attributes:

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.

  • Work schedules can change based on critical business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience performing general labor work, including operating landscape equipment , in an industrial, logistics, large commercial or shop environment.

  • Two years of college or technical school.

  • Experience using hand and power tools.

  • Experience performing light duty maintenance work.

  • Experience operating both ride-in and walk-behind floor sweepers.

  • Experience operating a PC with Microsoft Office suites.

The General Maintenance Technician II is responsible for assisting higher level technicians in responding to work orders and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on the buildings and facilities equipment, fixtures and systems in an industrial, large commercial, or logistics environment. This position supports the daily functions within our maintenance department, primarily performing Cutting, threading and fitting of air and water lines, pulling electrical wire, replacing plugs and extension cords, painting, touchup and cleaning as required, as well as routine PM's and some troubleshooting and repair of facility equipment. This equipment includes, but is not limited to: overhead cranes; doors, docks and levelers; ventilation equipment; rooftop HVAC equipment; pumps and motors; restroom, sewer and water systems; as well as pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. The Facility General Maintenance Technician 2 will document and input all data on PMs and repairs into a CMMS. In addition, general maintenance tasks related to wall and floor coverings; windows and window hardware; doors and door hardware; office furniture; etc. will be required. Responsibilities: * Assists the team with a variety of industrial or commercial facility electrical repairs and preventive maintenance to machinery, equipment and systems. * Assists co-workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. * Assists the team with maintaining, operating and troubleshooting systems and equipment such as overhead cranes; dock locks and levelers; pumps, piping, seals and valves; fork lift equipment and industrial batteries; and heating and ventilation equipment. * Performs basic plumbing repairs. * Troubleshoots and repairs basic electrical issues * Inspects and performs basic repairs roofing materials. * Performs office furniture, window, door and hardware repairs. Repairs floor and wall coverings. * Assembles and installs shelving and cabinets. * Maintains and repairs facility structures, walk ways, and road ways. * Performs preventive maintenance on as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). * Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance. * Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. * Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required. * Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work. * Demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer. * Other duties may be assigned.
