JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for all housekeeping tasks assigned in and around the Casino. Cleans and maintains the appearance of the casino and the administrative buildings public areas and restrooms, and other assigned areas, while following safety guidelines and policies and procedures to achieve Odawa Casino Resort standards of quality utilizing established standards of service.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all public areas of casino are ready for operation by thoroughly cleaning, dusting, polishing, and vacuuming all surfaces.

  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.

  • Operates and maintains all cleaning equipment.

  • Follows all safety guidelines and organizational policies.

  • Provides guests and fellow Team Members assistance, instruction and/or guidance.

  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.

  • Replenishes bathroom supplies. Cleans sinks, countertops, toilets, fixtures, and all other applicable restroom needs.

  • Maintains a professional appearance and attitude.

  • Cross-trains in the floor tech and deep cleaner function areas as required.

  • Attends required department meetings and trainings.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of work.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be able to read and understand warning labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Must be able to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 60 pounds and be able to lift weight up to 25 pounds. Must be able to pass a physical and be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to extend arms overhead with bending and stooping frequently and be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to work with a variety of cleaning chemicals. Ability to work independently and on a team and be flexible with shift and days off. Frequent travel from building to building and local in-town travel required. Must be able to meet Odawa Casino Resort internal training requirements and be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission. Frequent exposure to dust, dirt and chemicals associated with cleaning agents. You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position. Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

A Team Member who resigns with proper notice may apply for rehire after 6 months from the effective date of their termination.

A Team Member who has their employment terminated by any gaming facility or who resigns without proper notice may be eligible for rehire subject to the following schedule:

  • 1st occurrence must wait one year from the effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice

  • 2nd occurrence must wait three years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice

  • Any occurrence beyond the 2nd must wait five years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice

Please note that occurrences do not reset regardless of length of time between them.

A Team Member whose employment is terminated as a result of not being able to return to work upon exhaustion of the Fair Employment Leave will be eligible for rehire without a waiting period once they have been released back to work by a qualified physician.

A Seasonal Team Member whose employment is terminated will be eligible for rehire without a waiting period if they successfully complete their most recent seasonal employment.

Must not be currently on a Security Ban from Odawa Casino during the time of application.

Position Summary * Heavy housekeepers/floor care technicians are generally responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) of areas that include offices, resident rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells and other public areas such as dining rooms. * Performs housekeeping and cleaning activities within well established guidelines and assigned areas to ensure that quality standards, safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. * The heavy housekeeper/floor technician is responsible for satisfactory and timely completion of assigned cleaning area according to schedule. * Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and or malfunctions to supervisor in a timely fashion. * Is responsible for the safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions and adheres to all safety precautions. * The heavy housekeeper/floor care technician is responsible for collecting trash/recycling/soiled linen from the units and for the proper disposal of trash/recycling/laundry in an outside/soiled linen barrel container. * Work involves pulling and pushing, carrying weight up to 50 pounds, twisting, bending and reaching from floor to waist height and from waist to above head. * Applies stripper to floors (slippery surface) to remove old wax then refinishes floors with new wax product. * Some outside work may be assigned, including policing grounds. * Represents HCSG in a positive manner; is able to follow oral instructions, is pleasant, tactful and courteous and cooperative with supervisor, co-workers, residents and client staff. * The heavy housekeeper/floor care technician consistently embodies the characteristics necessary to drive the Company's Purpose, Vision, Values, and DNA. Qualifications * A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. * Minimum 1 ½ years' experience in floor care preferred, but on-site training is provided. * Ability to follow oral and written instructions. * Must be able to be at work on time. * Must be able to speak, read and write English to communicate effectively with stakeholders. * Ability to cooperate with other employees. * Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis. * Knowledge of how to strip, wax and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance upon completion of initial training period. * Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision or other employee assistance after the training period is completed, and do so without injury to oneself or other individuals. * Must be able to fully understand and complete all In-Services.
