POSITION SUMMARY
This position works under the supervision of the Arts & Culture Director and is reviewed for compliance with established procedures while working, and through review after task completion. This position's primary responsibilities are focused on the care and maintenance of the Metropolitan Theatre, Ruby Amphitheater and Hazel Ruby McQuain Park, and the Morgantown History Museum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - KNOWLEDGE - SKILLS - ABILITIES
Change light bulbs, replace electrical switches, lubricate motors, cleans, and unclog drains, change washers, change filters, clean heating elements, inspect the condition and readiness of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and emergency generator systems.
Collect and remove all interior solid waste and clean up litter both inside and outside the Public Buildings daily.
Assemble and move furniture and other heavy objects, replace defective ceiling tiles, hang pictures, and oil squeaky doors and furniture.
Clear and clean sidewalks of snow and debris and rake and bag leaves; weed, water and prune outside plants.
Clean windows, tables, chairs, walls and floors, and dust shelves.
Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies inventory and determine the correct type and proper use of caustic, acidic, and solvent cleaning chemicals, and agents.
Clean rest rooms including sinks, toilets, mirrors, walls, floors, and restock soap and paper supplies as needed.
Mop, strip, wax, and spray buff floors, shampoo and vacuum carpet and fabric furniture.
Perform related work and duties as needed or assigned by supervisor.
Performs various manual labor tasks required to maintain and repair City Buildings (i.e., shoveling materials, loading/unloading trucks, and operating handheld and power tools and equipment).
Operates light equipment such mowers, lawn tractors, rubber tire front end loaders and light duty trucks.
Assist with duties requiring skills in carpentry, masonry, pipe laying, and other learned traits.
Maintains grounds of facilities and removes leaves, garbage, trees, tree limbs, and other debris.
Promote professional, courteous service as a representative of the City of Morgantown.
Cleans equipment and tools used during the course of the workday.
Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees work both indoors and out of doors depending upon task assignment. Daily conditions encountered include dirt, dust, noise, odors, vibration, and fumes. Other conditions vary with seasons.
Employees spend a majority of work shift using equipment and performing tasks requiring repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or crawling. Occasional activities require working from elevated workplaces.
Daily operations require unaided lifting of objects weighing as much as fifty-one (51) pounds.
Constant Hazards: Danger from passing traffic.
Occasional hazards: Tripping or slipping due to terrain and weather conditions, traffic or accidents when performing duties to remove snow and ice.
Possible hazards: Contact with extremely hazardous or toxic waste and other debris when making deliveries of trash to landfill, hazards associated with working around large vehicles on narrow roads and steep grades in various weather conditions.
USE OF TECHNOLOGY & EQUIPMENT
Equipment and tools used on a regular basis includes, but are not limited to, vacuum sweeper, floor buffer, push broom, mop and ringer bucket, power washer, hose with pressure nozzle, and cleaning chemicals and solvents, snow blower, shovel, rug shampooer, lawn mower and weed eater.
Office equipment used on a regular basis includes a telephone, calculator, scanner/copier, and computer.
CONTACT & SUPERVISION
Employee encounters occasional contact with other departments and the general public.
May supervise laborers, event staff or other employees during required tasks to maintain City facilities and grounds.

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification/License: Valid Driver's License
Experience: One (1) year of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid State of West Virginia Commercial Driver's License.
Trained in First Aid, CRP, and safe driving.
