Foundation Medicine is a molecular information company dedicated to a transformation in cancer care in which treatment is informed by a deep understanding of the genomic changes that contribute to each patient's unique cancer. The company's initial clinical product, FoundationOne is a fully informative genomic profile to identify a patient's individual molecular alterations and match them with relevant targeted therapies and clinical trials. Foundation Medicine's molecular information platform aims to improve day-to-day care for patients by serving the needs of clinicians, academic researchers and drug developers to help advance the science of molecular medicine in cancer.

The Facilities Intern will assist with multiple projects and daily activities to support the Facilities team to include using a computerized maintenance management system and equipment inventory.


  • Work order management in Maximo.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of personnel and lab equipment moves and changes.

  • Work with NCR's, CAPA's & the Quality group.

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a diverse, cross-functional, internal and external team.

  • Walk sites for equipment inventory.

  • Tag systems out of use (repair, PM, Validation etc).

  • Look up asset and equipment master files.

  • File calibration preventative maintenance records as required.


  • Interest in identifying and proactively solving problems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office products.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Can work in a very structured and scheduled environment.

As a contributor to the Computational Biology team, you will work with a diverse team of software engineers and computational biologists building products focused on genetic alterations and biomarkers in DNA and RNA. No genomic domain knowledge is required to get started. You will help build and maintain robust infrastructure to run highly concurrent data-intensive analyses, enhance and optimize scalable data solutions, and develop web applications that enable global production operations on cloud-deployed systems. You will be responsible for software development, unit testing, code reviews, and documentation on an agile team. Qualifications: You are a motivated learner, have strong communication skills, and are detail oriented. * Declared major in Computer Science or equivalent coursework. * Experience in any programming language (JavaScript, Java, Python preferred). * Experience writing unit tests. * Informed on architecture, design patterns, and data structures. * Database experience is a plus. * Exposure to version control systems (Git preferred). * Knowledge of Unix or Unix-like operating systems. * A desire to learn about genomics.
