Responsible for managing the integration of manufacturing utility systems into new and existing facilities to meet the requirements of the manufacturing processes, including design development, operation, and maintenance. Multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge is required with a strong background in commercial or industrial electrical engineering. Able to evaluate manufacturing equipment utility support requirements and develop technical specifications, systems architecture & performance requirements, and participate in the review and design of those systems to assure the capacity, reliability, serviceability, and efficiency of those systems meets the highest standards.
Maintain strong integration & communication with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure lessons learned are integrated into current and future facilities
Update and maintain Electrical system drawings to reflect current conditions in the building
Evaluate and provide accurate details on electrical outage impacts for ongoing projects to ensure impacts are known and any electrical work that is part of the outage meets the design standards for the Facility
Perform design reviews on projects for this facility and others in a timely manner to reduce possibility of incomplete or poorly coordinated designs, while ensuring lessons learned from the Facility side are implemented on all new projects
Assist project teams in the preparation of high quality and thoroughly coordinated electrical design packages
Prepares a variety of engineering deliverables: Owner's Project Requirements, Basis of Design and Engineering narratives, regulatory/code research, conceptual design, performance specifications, Haz-Ops reviews, sequence of operations, electrical Arc Flash & Coordination studies
Specify and implement metering that facilitates audits of facilities systems performance as well as systems operational issues/impacts in order to provide process or system changes that can provide meaningful value
Project management as needed to ensure procurement, installation, inspection, and energization of equipment and circuits meets project and Facility requirements for Safety, Quality, and Schedule
Manages and audits design services performed by consultants including preparing RFP scope and independent cost estimate, critically reviewing consultant proposals, negotiating cost, ensuring schedule/budget compliance, auditing scope conformance and quality, and reviewing consultant performance
Manufacturing equipment design reviews and site visits to review construction of equipment and coordinate utility connections/designs
Complete understanding and familiarity with calculating, sizing and selecting electrical equipment/distribution/infrastructure. Including but not limited to: Commercial electrical low voltage transformers/panels/switchgear, electrical hazard classification, medium voltage electrical gear, PV/Solar & Battery storage systems
Knowledge of UL508A inspection criteria a plus
Advanced knowledge of related engineering design principles, electrical codes, applicable design guides and standards
Capable of identifying opportunities for innovation and making recommendations that are supported by the analysis and are consistent with code and good engineering practice
Minimum of 3 years engineering experience in electrical systems
Professional Design Experience in a wide range of project types: industrial, mission critical/data centers, high tech/R&D, bio-tech/pharmaceutical, or battery manufacturing
Capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously and directing and overseeing junior staff work for same projects
Direct experience in the preparation of electrical construction drawings and engineering specifications
Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as, SKM DAPPER & CAPTOR, REVIT MEP, and AutoCAD
