Please Note: This position is a onsite Facilities Director for the St. Mary's Health and Clearwater Valley Health hospitals located in Cottonwood, ID and Orofino, ID. Must be willing to relocate to these areas.

The Facilities Director directs the daily activities and related functions of SMCVH Maintenance Department. The director has overall responsibility for the day to day and long term maintenance and upkeep of the hospital and clinic buildings and all grounds. The director also assists in the planning functions and construction projects for SMCVH.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administers and directs all activities of the department. Establishes and adjusts, when necessary, staffing levels, reporting relationships, job descriptions, policies and procedures, management systems, performance standards, staff training, and development of human resources for the department.

  • Responsible for hiring and terminations, recommends wage and salary rates, assures orientation of new employees, handles disciplinary actions including identified performance problems, and oversees all performance evaluations.

  • Develops, establishes and monitors departmental expense budgets. Assures the procurement of labor, materials, purchased services, utilities and contracts necessary to operate, maintain and repair the buildings, grounds and systems.

  • Writes or solicits requests for proposals for above services, reviews and negotiates contract terms, recommends contract proposals including engagement of consultative services when necessary.

  • Is responsible for all departmental fiduciary matters including but not limited to authorization of purchase requisitions, bills, contractor payments, labor reports and overtime assignments. Analyzes financial reports and provides explanations or justifications when required.

  • Reads, interprets and assures the documentation and filing of building and system plans, specifications, and operation and maintenance manuals. Develops and/or procures plans, specifications, bid documents, estimates, schedules and quotations.

  • Assures that all departmental programs are in compliance with hospital directives and all other applicable government codes and regulations.

  • Represents the Hospital to outside agencies, organizations or companies on a wide variety of compliance issues relating to maintenance.

  • Maintains all machinery and equipment in an optimum operation condition, minimizing down time and costly repairs.

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.

  • Is responsible for department's operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.

  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources.

  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff.

  • Follows hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens

  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.

  • Communicate with patients, families and co-workers in person, in writing and on telephone.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, health care planning, industrial engineering or other applicable field is preferred

  • A minimum of 5 years' health care facility planning experience including developing and coordinating functional programs for expansion, relocation or remodeling projects, preferred

  • Experience working with vendors on FF&E specification, delivery and installation

  • Knowledge of architecture and health care planning sufficient to develop practical space programs, planning concepts, architectural plans and project schedules

  • Experience as a project manager responsible for providing assistance to Plant Operation team members, trades, and vendors on a variety of projects.

  • Ability to work with employees, interdepartmental teams, and organizational leadership across the enterprise to effectively complete goals

  • Experience with CAD production and computer program support to include but not limited to AutoCAD, Micro-station, Word, Excel, Photoshop and PowerPoint

  • Physical requirements include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasionally lifting or carrying 5 to 15 pounds. Ability to walk for extended periods of time to perform site inspections of construction and renovation projects

  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills
