SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The facilities custodian / technician is a part of a team creating and maintaining excellence at Southside Christian School. Facilities Technicians receive direction and priorities from the Facilities Services Manager, who is responsible for the team's performance and for the periodic evaluation of individual technicians.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Appearance of buildings (internal and external) - ability and willingness to perform various cleaning tasks.
Supporting facilities technicians in the maintenance of building infrastructure systems including inspections, preventative maintenance, and daily operation. This infrastructure would include:
Roofing and skylights
Plumbing, HVAC systems, and ductwork
Doors, hardware, windows, and treatments
Electrical and lighting systems
Painting and sheetrock repairs
Flooring and stairwell repairs
Fire extinguishers, alarm sirens, and emergency lighting
Kitchen equipment and fume hood
Elevator, fire monitoring, pest control and other vendor-serviced areas as needed
Gymnasium bleachers, curtains, goals and other motorized equipment
Support of information technology department as needed (run network lines, provide power, etc.)
Assist in preparations for major campus events as needed
Handling of campus deliveries, as directed by the Facilities Services Manager
Providing help desk support for faculty and staff as needed
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:
Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School demonstrated by their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
Must be spiritually mature and agree with the school's Mission, Vision, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Christian Life Commitment, and Statement of Faith.
Education: Candidates would have basic-level knowledge, with a desire/interest to learn, in at least one of the areas listed below.
HVAC systems and controls
Electrical systems and lighting
Plumbing
Carpentry and construction
Painting and sheetrock repair
Roofing
Life safety and fire monitoring
Customer service
Required Skills/Knowledge
MS Office experience demonstrating proficiency with Outlook (email).
PC general competency to enable learning SCS enterprise software, such as help desk event management, and time clock software applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Collaborative mindset with the ability to develop excellent teamwork within the group
A customer-service mindset, managing interruptions and still maintaining priorities
Ability and willingness to follow the priorities and direction set by supervisor A valid SC driver's license, acceptable DMV record/points, and passing a background check are mandatory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is labor-intensive and certain physical requirements must be met in order to be successful. They include the ability to:
Lift up to 75 lbs. and be able to lift 40-60 lbs. repeatedly
Walk over a variety of terrains and surfaces, such as sloped metal roofs, stairs, etc.
Work in temperature extremes, in the direct sun, and in tight spaces
Tolerate dusty conditions, such as above drop ceilings or in the wood shop
Stoop, bend and maneuver in limited spaces as needed
Climb ladders and work, including overhead, from ladders and scissor lift
Use hand power tools, such as saws and drills
To see and read warning labels on equipment, as well as operating instructions
