What you will do at Precinct One

Precinct One has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Coordinator III. The Facilities Coordinator III will coordinate various aspects of construction projects, renovations, repairs and facilitate the general building maintenance program and cleaning services to protect against malfunctions or facility and equipment failures. In addition, will receive and review work orders, supervise construction scheduling and communication, delegate work orders to appropriate trades or responsible parties, liaise with project managers concerning estimates, subcontracting, progress, delays, and risks. Supervise facility maintenance technicians, contractors, Building Operating Systems (BOS) / Universal Services (US) personnel and the cleaning/logistics team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and utilize work force optimally. Monitor performance of work force.

  • Organize bids, complete order forms for materials, track expenses, and assist with all aspects of budget management.

  • Ensure quality and safety requirements are met.

  • Assist with the development of internal and external reports including, project budgeting, cost reports, project cash flow forecast, and project status reports to all stakeholders.

Requirements

What you will bring to Precinct One

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of related experience as a facilities coordinator or similar field

  • Proficiency in Microsoft software applications, which could include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Licensure:

  • Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire) and a good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of department industry best practices, contract management and facility code and

  • Knowledge and ability in monitoring expenditures, coordinating request for quotes, and facilitating procurement of all materials and services required for construction and maintenance projects.

  • Skilled at providing leadership in ways that engages and motivates personnel, promotes a safe work. culture, and ensures all activities align with departmental policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of managing building renovations/repairs and office moves.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • This is a physically active position that requires exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Subject to kneeling, crouching, walking, sitting, twisting, and reaching are needed to perform the essential functions at various job sites (inside and outside). At times items and/or equipment must be transported.

  • This job operates in both indoor and outdoor environments. Exposure to various weather conditions, temperature variations, loud noises and possible dangerous chemicals may be encountered. This is a full-time position. Days and hours may vary depending on the assigned shift.

About Precinct One

There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county's government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.

With approximately 1.17 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American, 38 percent Latino, 21 percent Anglo, 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple races.

Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct's territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks, 10 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.
