The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (psfei.psu.edu) is seeking a facilities controls engineer to provide technical assistance to Commonwealth of PA agencies that include the following responsibilities: monitoring a state-wide, web-based, building automation system; troubleshooting building mechanical systems; serving as the contract liaison between the end-user and the HVAC service contractor; participating in design reviews; and conducting surveys and studies of mechanical equipment and systems and providing advice on best practice of operation and maintenance. The position is based in State College, PA; however, travel throughout PA is required (day and occasional overnight). Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional Engineer license is preferred. Knowledge of and hands-on experience working with building automation and HVAC systems is required; experience with Automated Logic's WebCTRL and building electrical and plumbing systems is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with a variety of audiences including architects, engineers, IT staff, site administrators and maintenance staff, contractors, and government agency directors and be able to provide briefings, education presentations in the form of short courses and workshops, and write reports that are clear, concise, and actionable.
