JOB SUMMARY

  • Ensures life safety within the environment of care at all construction and renovation sites and ensures that facilities and equipment are maintained, renovated, and/or constructed in a safe and timely manner that complies with McLeod Health policies and procedures and all other applicable codes and regulations, including but not limited to life safety, environmental, building, construction and OSHA codes and regulations.

  • Aids in planning, coordinating, administering, and documenting training and orientation for assigned McLeod Health employees and purchased services trade personnel.

  • Interprets and applies codes and develop, manage, and follow-through to completion action plans and plans for corrective action.

  • Identifies, gathers, maintains, trends, and utilizes data and to appropriately utilizes A3 root cause analysis to develop meaningful and useful reports beneficial in the proactive improvement of life safety within the environment of care and McLeod Health facilities.

  • Teaches and certifies in-house code regulatory officers to conduct inspections of rated barrier walls, rated doors, fire and smoke dampers, fire sprinklers, fire alarm systems, fire alarm enunciation systems, kitchen hoods, and fire suppression systems.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Will review new structure and existing building plans to ensure that they meet necessary standards and follow up at the site as the construction or maintenance proceeds.

  • Will have ability to examine the quality and overall safety of our various facility systems, ensure that buildings and systems comply with municipal and state codes, ordinances, and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Adept computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications are required for this position.

  • Requires a valid SC Driver's License.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Commercial Building Inspector's license REQUIRED

  • License includes the following technical classifications as issued by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, South Carolina Building Codes Council.:

  • COMMERCIAL PLUMBING INSPECTOR

  • COMMERCIAL BUILDING INSPECTOR

  • COMMERCIAL MECHANICAL INSPECTOR

  • COMMERCIAL ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR

  • OSHA 30 certification REQUIRED
