Job Summary
UT Southwestern is in search of a skilled and experienced Building Services Coordinator for their Facilities Management department. Works under minimal supervision to coordinate building services across campus and provide journeyman level skills in performance of work of at least two skilled trades or skilled crafts, such as Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Painting, and general housekeeping; acts as liaison between Physical Plant and Administrator of assigned facility.

Work Location : Dallas Campus

Shift Requirement : Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Minimum Experience and Education Requirements

Must have a degree from a vocational school in building trades or have an active license in a trade.
Must have six (6) years' work experience in building maintenance.
Must have and maintain a valid State of Texas driver's license.
Hospital work experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Work requires skill in the use of basic tools of the trade.
Basic computer skills.
Work requires the ability to do general Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, and Housekeeping.
Work requires proficiency in all phases of duties performed.
Work requires alertness and careful attention to avoid serious injury to self and others.
Work sometimes requires wearing gloves, masks, respirators, hearing protection, face shields, eye protection, protective clothing.
Work requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting/pulling/pushing heavy objects (up to 50lbs), climbing up/down ladders, stooping, bending, reaching, including walking, and standing for extended periods of time.

Job Duties

Coordinates building attendants by providing clear work instructions and observing performance.
Supervises Building Maintenance Specialists throughout campus as needed.
Assigns, sets, and disseminates tasks to other employees.
Performs plumbing, electrical, mechanical, housekeeping, carpentry, and painting repairs according to service requests for specifically assigned specialties.
Conducts periodic inspections of building roofs, plumbing, electrical, mechanical rooms, and housekeeping.
Maintains records and documents of work completed.
Install new equipment as required.
Liaison with building occupants to identify building maintenance requirements, trends of recurring issues, and coordinate work activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a laboratory, general office, or outside area.
Working conditions involve exposure to one or more disagreeable elements, such as dust, dirt, heat, moisture, cold conditions, and contact with animals, animal odors, lifting, moving heavy equipment, and occasional work where biohazardous, chemicals, or zoonotic diseases will require use of appropriate safety procedures.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimum require prior approval of Vice President for Human Resources Administration or his/her designee.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
