Position Summary
The Facilities and Security Coordinator is responsible to the Facilities Director for assisting with the management of facilities operations and building security for the University of Georgia Libraries' facilities, with a primary focus on the Main Library and Special Collections Library. The coordinator enforces conduct policies, monitors alarm systems, security cameras, and other related systems, and serves as a resource and authority to the student security workforce. This position also monitors building maintenance and projects by communicating with staff in the Facilities Management Division (FMD) and other outside contractors, prepare areas for renovation and/or relocation, and assist with the coordination of special events and projects as they arise, as well as various administrative tasks in support of the building operations.

Physical Demands
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, and reaching. Will climbs stairs, lift or push objects weighing 25-50lbs, and administer basic first aid, including use of an AED (automated external defibrillator).

Coordinates security operations of the Main Library and occasionally the Special Collections Library, by enforcing procedures and policies that promote a secure environment, monitoring and maintaining surveillance equipment, programing key cards, by communicating effectively with security and library workforces regarding various issues and changes, and liaising with the UGA police department as necessary.

Monitors the Main library building's physical space as well as the Special Collections Library on occasion, by performing and coordinating regular walkthroughs, monitoring the Libraries facilities ticket system, communicating effectively with UGA FMD and library employees, assisting with renovation projects, and elevating miscellaneous building-related issues as appropriate

Oversees a knowledgeable, competent, and welcoming student workforce by training, managing performance, and coordinating communication and scheduling
Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities
Regularly staffs the security desk, providing initial, first tier service to library visitors by providing general information, directional guidance, assisting with the location of physical spaces, and by appropriately referring advanced inquiries to the correct people and departments.
Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities
Works closely with security and facilities colleagues in other Library buildings (the McBay Science Library and the Miller Learning Center), by serving as a resource and providing assistance when needed. Provides specialized support to the Special Collections Library during evening events as needed.

Compiles usage statistics and creates written shift reports on a recuring basis.
Percentage of time 5 Duties/Responsibilities
Participates in the development and coordination of emergency plans for all library facilities by reviewing and implementing procedures for various emergencies including but not limited to those related to weather, fire, medical, or active shooter.

Maintains flexibility and awareness of changes and needs in security and facility management by assuming similar duties and responsibilities as assigned to facilitate the workflow throughout the department.
Participates in library-wide communication by reading, responding to, and initiating information transmitted via the Libraries' listserv and other communication tools. Actively participates in appropriate library-wide or departmental meetings by asking questions, seeking clarification, or initiating discussion on various issues.
