Job Description:

Be able to weld steel and composite steel with arc welding equipment from up to 4
Be able to weld steel and composite steel with MIG welding equipment from 1/16 up to
Be able to identify metal types and proper techniques to securely adhere and/ or repair structural metals
Be familiar with air arcing processes and how to protect surrounding items from damage during the process
Be able to distinguish between different types of core material needed for certain welding operations (solid core, flux core, etc.
Be able to pass any additional welding certifications not held per ANSI regulated processes in a minimal amount of time
Be able to take blueprint drawings and apply them to existing equipment or be able to fabricate the item from scratch
Be familiar with TIG welding and/or brazing techniques that could be used on non-steel metals and/or thinner metals to complete an air or water tight seal
Be familiar with MIG welding techniques that could be used on steel piping to complete an air or water tight seal
Be able to identify different schedules of piping and there uses
Be able to weld all sizes of pipe, including piping that is installed that may require blind welding procedure to be used
Understand maintenance and upkeep of welding equipment and be able to identify concerns with the equipment and repair or recommend repairs
Be able to use oxy/acetylene or oxy/propane cutting or brazing set ups
Be able to use plasma cutting equipment
Be familiar with basic iron worker operation and how to use it in the fabrication of various brackets, clamps, jigs, etc.
Be flexible to work in and out of the environment and weather conditions
BE able to work individually or in small groups
Be able to complete other tasks as assigned with proper training

VIEW JOBS 11/10/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-08T00:00 Summary Statement Inspects and repairs sewer lines, manholes, and related utility equipment utilizing an array of specialized tools and equipment. Provides technical Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) pipeline inspections to accurately identify, analyze, and assess problem areas within a wastewater collection system. Coordinates with related utility, wastewater treatment, and construction crews to ensure equipment and utilities are safe and effective. Determines and marks the exact location of underground sewer mains, geothermal lines, and pressurized irrigation by utilizing several tools and methods of research. Responds to requests from the Idaho Digline. When applicable, responds to emergency situations to identify various underground utilities. Acts as a first responder for emergencies. Works under general direction and is required to make judgment calls when in the field. Essential Functions Operates hydrovac truck to clean, maintain, and inspect sewer lines and manholes. Performs repairs and maintenance on sewer lines, lift stations, and related City utilities. Utilizes specialized CCTV inspection equipment to provide technical pipeline inspections to identify, analyze, and correctly assess problem areas within a wastewater collection system. Coordinates inspection response, research and assessments of pipeline conditions to provide maintenance and repair of lines. Utilizes geographic information systems (GIS), closed circuit television (CCTV), asset and work order management programs, construction and inspection drawings, as-built drawings, blueprints, online maps, various records, and electronic underground locating tools to determine exact location, size, and function of underground sewer mains, geothermal lines, and pressurized irrigation lines to prevent damage during construction. Identifies and marks right-of-ways, easements, and private property lines. Receives request for locations through Idaho Digline, through a specialized software program. Schedules and attends on site meetings with contractors, utility locators, and the public to identify utilities that need to be located. Provides support for staff and construction crews. Organizes and conducts various meetings regarding location of utility lines. Provides research, installation, and maintenance of in-line sewer plugs installed due to customer non-payment. Performs lateral launch camera inspections and provides traffic control. Assists and coordinates work activities with construction crews for installing and repairing sewer pipes, manholes, and geothermal system pipes. Performs sewer line root control maintenance and grease removal through geothermal cleaning, root sawing, and preventive maintenance activities. Acts as a first responder to all Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO), sewer line backup calls, and odor complaints. Performs traffic control duties while in the field. (70%) Tracks work orders and related information into a computerized Infrastructure Management System (Hansen 8), mapping program, and other data entry and computer programs. Ensures an accurate record of all maintenance performed. Records data, as-built drawings and daily logs of work and locations thereof. Identifies issues, hazards and concerns observed in the field, and forwards information to appropriate person. Communicates daily concerns and objectives efficiently to supervisor and co-workers. Researches new and existing tools and equipment to be utilized for maintenance and repair duties, and determines if similar tools or equipment can be fabricated internally. (20%) Inspects and performs routine preventative maintenance and repairs on sewer line cleaning equipment, tools, and all equipment utilized. Responds to emergency situations requiring immediate location of underground utilities such as gas main breaks, loss of electrical power, communication line disruption, sewer lateral and main breaks, and water main breaks. Operates heavy equipment when responding to after-hours emergency calls. Fabricates specialized cleaning tools, and maintains an inventory of parts and equipment. Performs routine maintenance on vehicles. (10%) Performs other duties as assigned. Total Percentage = 100% Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training Requires education and/or experience to attain the following: Two years experience performing maintenance and repair in plumbing or irrigation, working in a utilities or construction field identifying, designing, and marking subsurface utility infrastructure utilizing locating equipment and instruments; systems, one year experience utilizing CCTV or related equipment for repairs and maintenance, and a high school diploma or GED. Working knowledge of the inspection and repair techniques of sewer lines; operation and maintenance of various types of sewer pipe line cleaning and maintenance equipment, methods and safety practices; inner workings of general and geothermal utilities; related safety procedures and techniques; general business office and telephone etiquette, equipment, and procedures; computer operations including contemporary and related software applications; record keeping and filing practices; general customer service techniques. Ability to identify sewer line hazards; perform computerized data entry to maintain records; utilize all tools necessary to perform sewer line inspections and repairs; inspect existing sewer systems; update maintenance cycles, check for blockages, investigate backup claims, survey overall integrity and efficiency of pipe systems; troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems and components; perform mechanical and electrical maintenance of equipment; apply training as a qualified or competent person in safety situations;make independent decisions in the field; obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications; attend and when required pass classes and workshops offered by the City; read and interpret quarter section maps, as-built drawings, GIS maps, engineering and architectural drawings, and construction maps; perform duties in hazardous traffic environments and construction sites; utilize appropriate safety equipment; safely and effectively utilize all tools and equipment required; utilize city geography and street locations to locate utilities;display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training Three years experience performing sewer line maintenance and inspections utilizing CCTV equipment; industrial, commercial, or wastewater facility maintenance; performing maintenance and repairs on hydraulic pump systems, and related tools and equipment; progressively responsible experience locating underground utilities; State of Idaho Wastewater Collection Operator Class II license. Licensing And Other Requirements Valid Idaho CDL class B license with Tanker endorsement. Ability to obtain a Wastewater Collection Operator class I license and Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program (PACP) certificate.
