Principle Responsibilities
The Fabricator performs fabrication of bases, guards, stands, frames, and related sub-assemblies from structural steel, aluminum, and sheet metal to close tolerances.
Standard Duties
Joins together components of fabricated sheet metal assemblies; cut, trim, or scarf metal objects to dimensions, as specified by layout, work orders, or blueprints.
Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
Analyzes work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Operates fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form and assembles components.
Position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, follows blueprints and layout specifications, and uses appropriate tools and equipment.
Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Tack-weld fitted parts together.
Interprets engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
Requirements
High school degree
Minimum 3-5 years aircraft structural repair experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Able to obtain Security Clearance.
Capable to work with little or no direct supervision.
A&P license a plus
Capabilities
Skilled in general mechanical abilities.
Skilled in general aerospace fabrication.
Must be able to read blueprints, layout to tight tolerances.
Prepares structural metal products for welding and riveting.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals.
Ability to monitor gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Read and understand work orders.
Knowledge of mathematics and its application.
Knowledge of aircraft hardware, materials and processes.
Physical Requirements
The employee must have the ability perform light to heavy lifting and positioning of work pieces up to seventy pounds, standing, bending, stooping, utilizing overhead cranes, pallet jacks, constant standing, walking, and working in awkward positions, and may periodically exposed to high noise levels.

Hand tools, layout tools, iron worker. break shear, drill press, beveler, fitting tools

Pay Range: $30.00-$40.00/hourly based on experience
