Interstate Assembly Systems in Surprise, Arizona We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our assembly team as a Fabrication Supervisor. This position is responsible for the daily coordination and supervision Fabrication Department, which is responsible for all welding and fabrication of all Interstate Assembly Systems, Mechanic and Lube Trucks, Lube bodies, beds, cabinets, trailers, custom parts, and sheet metal operations through servant leadership to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Primary Duties:

  • Create a culture of safety in the work environment through continuous feedback and involvement of team members. Making safety and shop cleanliness a daily priority.

  • Assume a high degree of ownership over all aspects of projects, monitor systems/equipment operations,

  • Drive the development of specific, repeatable methods of production resulting in consistent, predictable outcomes in quality, labor hours and costs through standard work procedures.

  • Train/cross train team members in the safe performance of their duties without sacrificing quality.

  • Communicate and prioritize activities to meet deadlines by sufficient instruction and expectations to team members to keep the production process flowing smoothly.

  • Collaborate with Production Manager to ensure safety, quality, profit objectives and productivity goals are met.

  • Selection process of interviewing/hiring team members

  • Establishes goals and objectives, conducts performance appraisals and takes an active role in creating a culture that promotes the growth and advancement of team members.

  • Day to day supervision of team including training, motivation and discipline.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs.

  • Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.

  • Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts.

  • Must be thoroughly familiar with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves, and gas cylinders.

  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Demonstrate willingness to work with others in a team environment.

  • Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal

  • Ability to write and implement area processes.

  • Flexible work schedule.

  • Commitment to Process improvement.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years of leadership experience.

  • Familiar with a variety of welder concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Prior weld certification a plus.

  • Prior truck body welding experience a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Traditional work schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently stands and reaches with hands and arms and performs repetitive tasks. The employee is frequently required to walk, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee occasionally may be required to perform forceful use of hands, wrist and forearms. Activities will also involve occasionally sitting and using a computer, communicating verbally and in writing
