Fabric R&D Assistant (Nyc)

Company Description: Bernard Chaus, Inc. designs, sources, and markets nationally and internationally an extensive range of women's careers, casual sportswear, and dresses. Their products are sold through all significant levels of retail distribution, principally under various trademarks and under private label brand names.

Responsibilities:

·        Attending meetings with design/merchandising, sales

·        Daily meetings with the head of the department

·        Ordering proto and sample yardage

·        Create fabric charts and assist all fabric development from L/D, Y/S to sy stage

·        Daily communication with mills, vendors, and factories

·        Attending fabric appointments

·        Maintain and organize fabric library - file lab dips, sy, linings.

·        Managing tailoring charts, binders, working with NY factories on urgent tailoring samples.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in textiles/fabric development.
• Knowledge of fabric construction, finishing, washing
• Must have clear understanding of fabrications and qualities.
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong problem-solving skills; able to proactively recommend solutions.
• Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
• Highly motivated, ability to prioritize workflow, and have good time management skills.
• Good mill contacts and relationships
• Enthusiastic and team-oriented

 This a full-time, permanent role offering a salary of $60-65k.
