As the FAA Quality Compliance Manager, you will lead the department that inspects purchased parts, assemblies, accessories and materials for conformance to specifications. You will also inspect and measure items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment and functional operation, according to blueprints, parts manuals, company or military standards, FAA and other specifications. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Use a variety of equipment to inspect purchased parts and documentation by comparing to applicable drawings/specifications and inspection plan requirements

  • Perform layout inspections on Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)

  • Ensure gauge calibration prior to each use

  • Record inspection results, close inspection lots and post accepted and rejected material to applicable storage locations

  • Process nonconforming material per site procedures; initiate quality notifications, segregate nonconforming material and post material to PRB

  • Read blueprints, drawings, tools and gauges; access blueprints and specifications from the online system

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 5 years of experience as a compliance quality manager in an FAA environment and measuring components to drawing specs

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Demonstrated and deep understanding of all skills associated with the Inspector III, Receiving role

  • Industry-level experience as quality inspector/technician with documentation a requirement

  • Experience working in an ISO9001 environment and the ability to initiate the corrective action process for receivables

  • Confirmed ability to use digital, dial and Vernier calipers, inside and outside micrometers, depth and height gauges; ability to perform inspection work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to interpret blueprints to ensure product conformance of mechanical, optical and electrical components prior to company stockroom delivery; ability to read and understand drawings and related quality procedures

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance

  • Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) and Certified Quality Technician (CQT)

  • CMM operating experience

  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Good knowledge of basic shop math (addition, subtraction, algebra and geometry) and good gauging practices

  • Experience using hand tools and precision measuring equipment (micrometer)

Mentor and coach the Compliance Team in order to fulfill the demands and responsibilities of the Compliance Department. Lead cross-functional teams on strategic compliance initiatives. Establish local and global compliance policies and procedures in accordance with Medtronic's seven (7) compliance elements. Conduct compliance audits to assess cross-company compliance levels. Manage Regulatory changes, including U.S. Census, BIS, OFAC and other Government Agencies. This position may reside in any Medtronic office in the US. A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. * Strategic planning for achieving Compliance goals and initiatives. * Develop and implement procedures to achieve expected compliance levels. * Provide leadership through mentoring and coaching to the Compliance Staff. * Proactively manage policy changes by remaining current with Customs and Border Protection, Food and Drug Administration and other government agency regulations. * Conduct compliance audits across Medtronic facilities to identify export compliance risks and develop corrective action plans to address gaps. * Establish meaningful metrics and conduct data analysis to report department export compliance program metrics. * Responsible for timely and accurate responses to government inquiries related. * Provide trade compliance technical expertise to company personnel and suppliers. * Responsible for planning, initiating, monitoring, tracking and/or prioritizing compliance projects and process improvement initiatives, and facilitating successful, on-time and within budget execution. * Sets clear direction and management that aligns with defined practices and policies and enhances the compliance, quality and/or privacy programs including development, implementation, and management of standardized core program elements such as oversight and governance, written standards and procedures, technology, training and change management communication. * Partner with and work closely with other departments, including but not limited to Quality, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and Legal to ensure program execution to achieve business goals within internal and external compliance requirements. * Directs day to day activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks and accountability for deliverables across multiple functional organizations. * Works effectively in a dynamic and changing environment * Responsible for project performance, risk management, administration, financial management, budgeting and issue resolution. * Other duties as assigned.
