JOB TITLE: Face to Face (F2F) Fundraising Manager

REPORTS TO: Senior F2F Fundraising Manager

DEPARTMENT: Direct Marketing

DIRECT REPORTS: F2F Fundraisers and Team Leaders

STATUS: 1 year fixed term contract, with view of extending to Regular full time position

LOCATION: San Diego

COORDINATES WITH: Direct Marketing, Communications and Engagement, Donor Services, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Facilities departments; Oxfam International (OI) Regular Giving Manager, external F2F agencies, and direct marketing consultants.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Develop and manage an effective in-house F2F (canvassing) program to recruit regular (monthly) donors and increase unrestricted revenue through this channel; train, recruit, and manage fundraisers and team leaders; build our newly acquired donor base and help retain new donors at a high standard.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit staff, implement training program, and manage overall in-house performance to meet target. Adhere to a code of conduct and guidelines for professional fundraising for Oxfam America and train staff on quality.

  • Conduct on street training with team leaders and fundraisers; lead from the front by being on the street at least three times per week, monitoring quality of team's work.

  • Help develop F2F strategy and training materials in collaboration with Senior F2F Manager and National F2F Fundraising Manager.

  • Collaborate with Donor Services to ensure efficient gift processing and reporting for F2F donations.

  • Line manage up to 5-10 fundraisers and 2-5 team leaders

  • Recruit the highest quality of staff and conduct weekly interviews.

  • Responsible for keeping to expenditure budget and tracking this expenditure.

  • Responsible for regularly monitoring KPI's - sign up rate, average gift, weekly and monthly volumes of new donors, and attrition rates; managing staff accordingly.

  • Ensure site bookings are compliant.

  • Develop strong relationships with staff in other departments to enable the face to face team to feel closely connected to Oxfam's core vision and values.

  • Ensure smooth running of a face to face operation from an Oxfam regional office.

  • Ensure complaint levels are kept to a minimum and manage/respond to complaints in a timely and appropriate manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Experience and Core Competencies:

  • Two to five years of face to face fundraising experience, including a minimum of two years as a team leader/manager.

  • Experience running face to face fundraiser training sessions.

  • Strong time management and project management skills.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret and explain results with a focus on driving results.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to influence and empower people to make a difference.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with confidence, determination, resilience and good team working skills.

  • Adaptability and a 'can do' approach.

  • High level of initiative to work independently and with a focus on daily results.

  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Experience in report writing and a professional approach in HR policy implementation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with an issues-oriented organization.
