Job Summary

Position Description:

Coordinates with Weapons Lead to ensure timely weapons loading and completion of unscheduled and scheduled maintenance. Operates ground support equipment. Assists in aircraft movement. Performs tasks with minimum supervision. Works for the F-16 Lead Weapons Mechanic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for F-16 aircraft weapons systems, armament systems and suspension equipment maintenance, and weapons loading.

  • Responsible for flight line munitions security, accountability, and reporting.

  • Ensures weapons loading Consolidated Tool Kits are standardized.

  • Assists in loading of munitions and armament maintenance.

  • Inspects, troubleshoots, installs, modifies, and repairs aircraft bomb racks, aircraft munitions delivery systems, and related munitions handling, loading, and test equipment.

  • Implements and actively supports quality initiatives, safety, and FOD Programs.

  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of maintenance actions in related forms and records as well as in IMDS.

  • Assists the Quality Support Team with the inspection of weapons production maintenance activities.

  • Performs aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance.

  • Performs weapons preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and periodic/phase inspections.

  • Operates GSE, flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.

  • Assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hanger/flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range an environment where there is little on no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.

Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

  • Must have a minimum of seven years of weapons loading, maintenance, or armament experience and three years supervisory experience. Two years of hands-on F-16 aircraft maintenance experience is desired.

  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.

  • Must have an in depth knowledge of aircraft common/special tools and test equipment.

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of aircraft weapons systems.

  • Must be willing and able to work with job required hazardous materials.

  • Must be willing and able to obtain (and maintain) aircraft/equipment Red X certification within 60 days of hire.

  • Must be willing and able to conduct specialty on the job training.

  • Must be willing to train to other aircraft maintenance tasks as required.

LICENSING, CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Red X Certification

  • Must be able to acquire qualification/certification as a load crew team chief.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must work with customer in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Complies with established policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Complies with all safety, bioenvironmental, security, and housekeeping standards.

  • Complies with training requirements.

  • Actively participates in the Safety Program.

  • Ensures HAZMAT processes are followed.

  • Participates in flight line FOD prevention walks.

  • Must be able to work day shift, night shift, weekend duty, and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team or TDY as required.

  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule as our shifts can change weekly based on the flying schedule.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Must have a working knowledge of IMDS.

  • Must have a current Arizona driver's license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver's license.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim secret government security clearance as a minimum.

  • Must be willing to train to other aircraft maintenance tasks as required.

  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.

  • Assists in upkeep of assigned facilities/grounds as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Responsible for testing, inspection, repair, removal and replacement of avionic systems components on the F-16 aircraft. * Repairs aircraft wiring. * Performs operational checkout of aircraft avionics systems. * Assists in launch, recovery, servicing, and ground handling of aircraft. * Performs inspections, accomplishes refurbishment and phase maintenance. * Prepares and maintains aircraft maintenance records and historical documents. * Accomplishes maintenance manpower and aircraft maintenance actions using the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS). * Reviews and utilizes maintenance data collection reports. * Monitors/reviews deficiency reports for adverse trends. * Uses applicable technical orders/manuals when performing aircraft maintenance, time compliance technical order, and to troubleshoot aircraft. * Performs in- progress and follow-up inspections to ensure quality has been performed. * Researches, orders and receives aircraft parts. * Monitors reports for supply difficulty items. * Prepares parts for turn-in back into the supply system. Initiates material deficiency reports as required. Inventories aircraft support equipment. * Maintains tools, hand and special, in a safe and serviceable condition.
