The Ophthalmic Assistant (OA) performs a variety of duties related to providing patient ophthalmic care and customer service.
The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. There may be occassional travel between AHN locations.
Obtain patient medical records/history
Perform preliminary eye function testing directly on patients
Scribe for Physicians during examinations
Assist Physicians with procedures
Triage patient phone calls
Prepare examination rooms and maintain inventory of medical supplies
Conduct patient education about procedures and proper medical care

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Current Ophthalmic certification or ability to obtain certification after 1 year of employment
Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail systems, and web-based programs
You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location
Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained
Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases is an employment requirement.
