Shift: 5p-5a, rotating weekend shift, work 3 days one week and then 4 days the following week.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain high level of visibility with employees. Use hands-on approach to communicate daily and involve employees in problem solving
Promote safety and ensure a safe work environment and safe employee work habits
Develop a high-performance work team with high levels of employee engagement, morale, satisfaction, and performance
Review general status of production schedules to identify and resolve problems
Ensure the desired product quality levels are achieved through use of standard work and training to those standards, training in operation and inspection techniques, and use of tools/data
Support and implement new, customer-focused processes in accordance with lean principles and practices
Provide training and coaching to improve standard work, work center organization (5S), and housekeeping
Actively provide change leadership as required
Support and foster an environment of continuous improvement by encouraging employees to challenge existing processes and implement solutions that enhance the overall effectiveness of the operation
Support associates in understanding company policies and practices
Maintain accurate time and production records
Identify process related problems and actively work with leaders and employees to determine and implement corrective action(s)
Communicate with other supervisors and appropriate personnel regarding equipment, safety, schedules, company policies and practices, performance improvement plans, etc.
Manage extrusion inventory supplies, providing the employees what is needed to succeed at their job
Lead and support extrusion teams to a "win as one" mindset
Lead and support the plant to improve process, procedures, and the performance of the plant
Ensure that the plant is achieving KPIs and develop plans when needed to achieve those KPIs
Be a leader in driving change, embrace and encourage it with team
Forward thinking leader
Hire, supervise, evaluate, and replace staff as required to ensure performance objectives are met/exceeded
Effectively train personnel in tooling, troubleshooting, machine set-up, operation, changeover, safety procedures and record keeping
Identify potential career paths for associates and works with associates to develop their skills and knowledge to progress the careers
Assign personnel to jobs/rotations and break schedules during shift by maintaining a high degree of communication skills to accomplish seamless shift changes and troubleshooting progress
Complete or oversee completion of paperwork relative to plant operation, operator logs, PM logs, audits and corrective action
Utilize PDCA process to attack problems and shortcomings
Interrupt the normal flow of work to respond to any short notice production or delivery needs
Knowledge and understanding of all safety policies and regulations and to be able to address all unsafe acts and conditions
Administer policies in a fair and consistent manner
Provide coaching and counseling to associates and corrective action when needed, always following company guidelines
Ability to promote overall goals of company in safety, quality, delivery and cost
Identify and assist with implementations for continuous improvement.
Effective control materials to eliminate wasted and maximize reclamation usage
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to include 5s and conversion cost reduction
Report all issues relating to safety, quality and disciplinary to manager in a timely manner
Must communicate effectively with other Supervisors and Leads to promote cross shift communication and eliminate reoccurring issues and/or confusion
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but are not limited to):
Participate in continuous improvement events as assigned by department manager
Facilitate SQDCE meetings and utilization of accountability board
Communicate with and listen to employees daily regarding team performance, strategic initiatives, policy changes, safety, quality, etc.
Help employees succeed through performance management. Provide coaching and performance communication to support development
Train and develop production line staff in the extrusion process
Control scrap vinyl from production
Ensure extrusion production schedule is completed on time
Perform extrusion operator duties as needed
Operate all extrusion equipment
Work with extrusion team to develop cost savings process
DIRECTION OF OTHERS (Include but are not limited to):
Manages a team of manufacturing associates
Create and maintain a respectful work environment by listening, seeking facts to support decisions, and addressing unacceptable behavior
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
1+ year leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
Extrusion experience is preferred but not required
Basic computer skills
Ability to walk/stand for long durations (duration of shift excluding breaks)
Ability to lift or team lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
