Major Activities:

  • Develops, implements, and learns from personal training and development plans

  • Operates blender, resin dryer, 4.5 extruder, take-off tower, die, slitter, trim winder and film winder

  • Start up and shut down equipment including pre-start up safety interlock review

  • Keep extruder fed with resin mixture by accurately calculating formulation, adding, blending and drying the batch resin components

  • Observe and adjust process parameters in ensure proper film thickness, sheet width, film quality and roll put-up

  • Diagnose, correct and document processing problems on process run condition reports

  • Record process and product information, test samples, complete order paperwork

  • Make quality judgments about film produced

  • Effect basic die and extruder maintenance, including teardown and reassembly of the extruder screw and die

  • Work safely with cutting tools and hoisting equipment

  • Maintain good interaction and teamwork with supervisor and co-workers

  • Give assistance to co-workers to expedite changeovers

  • Keep production area clean, operator workstation and all tools on 5s tool boards

  • Conduct/ document daily fork truck inspection and safely operate fork truck as needed

SAFETY:

  • Ensure that safety and health concerns are given primary consideration in all activities

  • Participates in required near hit, JSBO and JSA activities, performs interactive safety training, and always wears personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Follows company guidelines and actively participate in all safety processes

  • Carry out job/area specific housekeeping duties and maintain a high standard of professionalism

  • Look for, report and correct any near hits/ unsafe conditions or behaviors as soon as possible

  • Produce quality materials to be distributed to customers/ clients

  • Completion of accurate job orders helps build customer satisfaction and confidence

  • Maintain production volume and efficiency identifies needed change and makes recommendations --- finds solutions

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues, requesting supervisor assistance when needed

Must be willing to work shifts

WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year experience in a manufacturing environment or completion of an Associate's Degree in a related technical field.

Physical challenges:

  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 lbs of weight, climb stairs, lift and pull 10 lbs of weight in the overhead position, work in ambient room temperature of 100 degrees, and work safely around numerous hot surfaces and rotating equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the extrusion of TPU or PC films.

  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment

  • Working knowledge of computers and proficiency with software applications

  • Fork truck certification.

  • Hoisting and rigging experience.

  • Working knowledge of SAP

WHAT WE OFFER The primary function of a Utility Operator is to support the production of quality polyurethane and polycarbonate film of various grades, thickness and width. In this capacity, the Utility Operator is responsible for the safe operation of various processing, grinding, blending, extrusion winding, and film handling equipment. Compliance with Safety Policies, PPE Requirements, Quality Policies, and Operating Procedures are essential for success in this role. More specifically, this position will be responsible for: * Working safely at all times in a busy Manufacturing Plant; * Driving a fork truck in a safe manner and change batteries; * Supplying / cutting packaging supplies; * Cutting scrap and process rework materials; * Assisting Operators on running the production lines; * General Housekeeping around specific areas in the plant; * Operating reprocessors to produce quality regrind materials in a timely manner; * Assisting other Operators with starting up, operating, and shutting down processing equipment; * Supporting production line changeovers; * Recording process and product information, testing samples, completing order paperwork and packaging materials; * Basic mechanical activities for the cleaning and maintenance of process equipment; * Working in a team environment, as well as an individual contributor; * Diagnosing, correcting and documenting processing problems.
