Summary of Job Duties:

The Program Specialists/Assistant will assist a Program Coordinator with the coordination and delivery of health, education, life skills, and/or college/career programming to CI youth at the CI office and/or partner locations (schools and community organizations). Programs include interactive, engaging workshops, activities, reflections, evaluations and self-practice challenges.

Program Specialists will work under the supervision of & report to the Program Coordinator managing the respective age-range of programming to which the Program Specialist is assigned. Program Specialist will be part of the UA Little Rock Children International Program team. Applicants must be available between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on select Monday-Fridays. The Specialists 20 hour/week schedule will be determined upon hire based on program needs. This is a grant-funded hourly position. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Responsibilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus experience in youth facilitation in a group setting

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Enrolled in higher education with some clerical experience.

Job Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Assist program coordinator to develop engaging, age-appropriate events and workshops for participants.

  • Manage school-based delivery schedules with partners

  • Lead and facilitate in-person & virtual programs with elementary, middle, and/or high school students, ensuring that they run smoothly, are well-organized, and adhere to the program's objectives and schedule.

  • Youth Engagement: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where youth participants feel valued and encouraged to actively participate in program activities.

  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to youth, assisting them in setting and achieving personal and academic goals.

  • Social and Emotional Support: Foster a safe and supportive space for youth to express themselves, build healthy relationships, and develop essential social and emotional skills.

  • Behavior Management: Implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain a positive and respectful program atmosphere.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members and community/school partners to coordinate resources and support for the youth programs.

  • Evaluation and Feedback: Regularly assess the effectiveness of programs and gather feedback from participants to identify areas for improvement and ensure continuous program development.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and program policies, creating a secure environment for all participants.

  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and relevant stakeholders to keep them informed about program activities and the progress of youth participants.

  • Family engagement (calls, events, recruitment appointments, and emails)

  • Recordkeeping, data entry, and additional administrative tasks

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Must have stable internet connection and access to Zoom and Microsoft Teams

  • Energetic and passionate about being a role model for all youth and children

  • Ability to facilitate and supervise middle school students

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Spanish helpful

  • Must be available between 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on select Monday-Fridays

  • Valid license and willingness to drive a passenger van

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
