The External Relations and Operations Manager for the Pre-Professional and Graduate Advising satellite office works collaboratively as part of the Employer Relations and Experiential Education team within the Career Center and is expected to develop strong relationships with Career Center colleagues, as well as with faculty and staff in academic departments. The External Relations and Operations Manager plays an important role in representing the Career Center to internal constituents and the University to external constituents. This position will primarily work out of the Career Center's satellite office in the Pre-Professional & Graduate School Advising satellite location and will implement programs for the professional growth of pre-med/health, law and graduate students, and will manage all the administrative and day-to-day functions of Pre-Professional and Graduate Advising satellite office. Reports directly to the Senior Associate Director of Employer Relations and Experiential Education.
Primary duties include:
Serve as liaison to employers to connect them to faculty and academic-based student organizations.
Work with the Student Success Academic Assessment team to collect and analyze data (qualitative and quantitative) to assess the effectiveness and impact of internships, co-ops, and other experiential learning initiatives.
Coordinate programming and special events for employers and students, including Career Center fairs and recruitment events.
Manage the administrative activities and daily operations of the Pre-Professional and Graduate Advising satellite office.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with external university stakeholders such as graduate/professional school recruiters, employers, alumni, and community partners.
Background tracking expenses, allocating resources efficiently, and adhering to financial guidelines and protocols. Proficient with software platforms such as Peoplesoft, Finance Intranet, e-commerce Touchnet Marketplace and other university systems.
Prior experience in employer or constituent relations, account management, human resources, sales/marketing, public relations, event planning, and/or public speaking is beneficial. Prior background in higher education, university career services, or college recruiting is an asset.
Experience in logistics and event management, particularly in a higher education or similar setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, exercise good judgment discretion and be able to deal courteously with faculty, staff, students and the general public. Must have good organization skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain confidentiality. Must also have strong computer skills (Microsoft office: Word, Excel, Teams), good problem solving skills and the ability to use the Internet and email.

EMPLOYER RELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT: Assist employers with appropriately connecting to faculty and academic-based student organizations as needed. Interact with employers participating in on-campus recruiting and engagement activities to ensure a positive experience during their visit. Maintain a strong year-round relationship with employers by connecting them with appropriate resources/services (job postings, on-campus interviews, job fairs, specialized engagement events, etc.) to meet their recruitment needs. Provide information to employers about USC Career Center recruiting policies and services in accordance with relevant employment law.

ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION: Work with the Student Success Academic Assessment team to collect and analyze data (qualitative and quantitative) to assess the effectiveness and impact of internships, co-ops, and other experiential learning initiatives. Prepare reports for university leadership on outcomes. Stay abreast of current research, literature and trends related to experiential learning, industry, career services and higher education. Benchmark and adopt leading and best practices in experiential education. Develop and implement assessment strategies to measure the impact of experiential education initiatives on student learning, progression, and career readiness. Use data to continuously improve program effectiveness.

BUDGET/FINANCE: Maintains up-to-date knowledge of competitor pricing. Submits budget projections for each event, tracks expenditures, recommends fee structure to leadership based on peer benchmarking. Seeks to balance expenditures and revenue generation to deliver high quality events which maximize return on investment. Estimates and monitors revenue generation. Submits invoice to the centralized finance team for payment, and monitors and follows up on past-due accounts if applicable.

EVENT COORDINATION & LOGISTICS: Collaborate closely with Career Center and campus partners to coordinate programming and special events. Manage all event logistics such as room reservation requests and set-up, catering, parking, itinerary development, confirmation correspondence, etc. Ensures the timely promotion of events and programs by submitting timely request to the centralized communications team for development of marketing collateral (flyers, posters, emails, web content, etc.)
