Summary
Under the general supervision of the Extension office manager, this position typically provides general receptionist, secretarial, bookkeeping, and administrative support to the extension office by handling information requests and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, processing paperwork and other matters of similar complexity. The position exercises considerable independence of action in routine administrative matters, which might involve handling proprietary and private information. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of confidential record keeping, proper English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic math skills.

Must be able to perform basic bookkeeping and accounting, including invoicing, receipting, cash-handling, deposits, data entry, and reconciliation.
Provides administrative support to the extension office manager, 4-H program director and office assistant, which includes, but is not limited to: reviewing, responding to, and screening e-mails and phone calls; interacting with public officials, external agencies, 4-H leaders, members and/or County staff.
Performs duties as assigned by 4-H program manager such as assisting/setting up for events and camps.

Work Environment
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing, lifting, carrying, and event set-up may be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and paper cutters.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time, temporary position that begins July 1st of 2024, and ends September 13th of 2024. Working hours will be light at the beginning of the job (around 5 hours per week), and will increase, peaking at 30 hours for the week of July 22-26 and the Crook County Fair (August 5-11). During Fair week, hours of work may change unexpectedly.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, lift up to 20lbs, use hands, reach, twist, and bend. Duties may require the employee to work outdoors in the summer heat, with breaks as needed. Duties will expose the employee to livestock and livestock-related allergens such as hay.
Travel
Occasional travel is expected. Employee will drive a county vehicle for off-site duties as needed.
Required Education and Experience
High School Graduate or equivalent
In addition to experience listed above, minimum 1 year experience in an office environment with secretarial/administrative responsibilities is preferred, and minimum 1 year experience working with 4-H, special events, volunteerism, and/or the OSU extension office.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Able to complete a thorough employment and/or criminal history check.
Able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (not required for all positions).
Valid Oregon Driver's License
Final candidates will be required to provide official proof of college degree and certified transcripts (not required for all positions).
