JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

This position assists in the goals and efforts of the Horticulture State Extension Unit and contributes to the research, development, communication, marketing, and presentation of the team's initiatives. The primary focus is Green Industry and integrated pest management in Bucks County with a supporting role in Delaware, Montgomery, Lehigh and Northampton Counties.

The individual will collaborate closely with University Park-based faculty to conduct applied research. This position demonstrates proficient and comprehensive knowledge of horticultural practices, and delivers such knowledge in trainings, educational programs, field visits, group meetings, displays, news articles, and other extension activities. The position will also provide instruction for the regional Master Gardener programs.

Typically requires a Master's Degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties.

A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Review of Applications will begin January 15, 2021

This responsibility would include ordering publications from Penn State and other sources. Prepare reports and correspondence as requested by county/Penn State office staff. Assist BOM/CRM and/or educators in a variety of administrative detail matters. Prepare invoices, agendas, minutes, and correspondence as needed. General secretarial duties as needed. Receive and distribute mail and e-mail for staff. Maintain mailing lists and databases including Salesforce. Prepare newsletters and program announcements for distribution. Employee should be able to concentrate with numerous distractions. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL STANDARDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, stand occasionally, light lifting and the noise level in the work area is usually moderate. JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) within the Senior Vice President for Research is seeking a Proposal and Award Generalist, Level 3 (Project Specialist, Training Grant).The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) is a research administration unit under the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (OSVPR) dedicated to providing active support for the development, submission, and management of large-team multidisciplinary proposals. SIRO supports pre-award and Federally funded Training Grants for multi-college and multi-institutional efforts, while Finance Office (FO) within OSVPR provides post-award support for complex large-team funded awards. This position will report to a Project Manager in the SIRO and will perform duties listed below for university-wide training grants. The responsibilities for this position include the following: * Assist with processing appointments through funding agency portals (eg eRA Commons). Maintaining all records of fellowship stipends, tuition, benefits and terminations through funding agency portals * Assist with annual progress report preparation and submissions (eg financial and technical) to funding agency * Process payback agreements and any unliquidated obligations at end of fiscal year * Assist with tracking student status with training program requirements * Assist with Graduate Action Forms (GAFs), and Benefit Action Forms (BAFs) * Process all financial reconciliations on budgeted expenses * Manage all training grant matching accounts * Assist with management of ExTract and other training grant alumni tracking requirements for reporting and grant renewal * Provide quarterly budget reports to training grant PIs This position will actively collaborate with the college and institute staff assisting with training grants (e.g. HHD and Huck Institute staff - Director of Graduate Programs, Assistant Training Grant Administrator, and Director of Graduate Training Initiatives). This position will be filled as level 3, and typically requires a Bachelor's degree plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel functions, Governmental Reporting Systems (i.e., FastLane (NSF), ERA Commons (NIH)), Agency experience ( Strategic Information Management System (SIMS) grant reporting and budget functions (or similar institutional programs), and SIMBA financial system, are highly preferred. Requires flexibility and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize among a large number of diverse responsibilities. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Exceptional communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required.
