Extended Day Programs Assistant

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist Extended Day Program Specialists in implementing lesson plans and daily activities by providing positive learning experiences for children.- Assist Specialists in maintaining classroom discipline by observing the activities of the children and maintaining order.- Give each child individual and special attention each day; respond to each child's particular needs and characteristics. Ensure that all children receive equal attention.- Maintain a safe and clean environment for children, perform light housekeeping, sweep floors, and wipe down tables and countertops after messy art activities, meals, and snacks.- Read stories, sing songs, play records and prepare and organize materials for children's activities.- Report to Specialists any signs of illness or distress observed in the children.- Provide personal hygiene assistance to children; assist children for short periods of time to accommodate health or mobility needs.- Prepare teaching aids, labels, charts, and displays as instructed.- Assist in planning, preparing, and serving simple nutritious snacks.- Help to ensure that program policies and procedures are followed at the school site.
