ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Extended Day Program Specialists in implementing lesson plans and daily activities by providing positive learning experiences for children.
Assist Specialists in maintaining classroom discipline by observing the activities of the children and maintaining order.
Give each child individual and special attention each day; respond to each child's particular needs and characteristics. Ensure that all children receive equal attention.
Maintain a safe and clean environment for children, perform light housekeeping, sweep floors, and wipe down tables and countertops after messy art activities, meals, and snacks.
Read stories, sing songs, play records and prepare and organize materials for children's activities.
Report to Specialists any signs of illness or distress observed in the children.
Provide personal hygiene assistance to children; assist children for short periods of time to accommodate health or mobility needs.
Prepare teaching aids, labels, charts, and displays as instructed.
Assist in planning, preparing, and serving simple nutritious snacks.
Help to ensure that program policies and procedures are followed at the school site.
Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: a High School diploma or equivalent and at least six (6) months experience in a preschool or school-age child enrichment program, childcare setting, volunteer program for children, or coursework in Child Development. Licenses and other Requirements:
May require a valid California Driver's License.
