Job Summary and Qualifications
PURPOSE
Responsible for contributing to the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic milieu through prompt reporting of observed behavior, milieu processes and other pertinent information. He/she will work closely with all health care providers to facilitate and coordinate efficient, effective, quality health care. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the appropriate life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs; and, have the ability to provide care needed by the pertinent patient group(s). He/she will implement and/or comply with all the policies, procedures and standards of the unit, department and the institution.
JOB RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Director of Behavioral Health. Actively collaborates with other nursing staff, physicians, and members of other departments to facilitate provision of optimum patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Required:
BA/BS in art therapy, recreation therapy, music therapy.
Completion of supervised student internship and/or one year work experience.
Preferred:
CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
BLS CPR through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Crisis Prevention Institute Certification is required within 30 days of hire date
At least one of the following certifications from a nationally recognized therapy association (i.e., National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, State Certification with Consortium of Therapeutic Recreation/Activities, American Art Therapy Association, Certification Board for Music Therapists, National Music Therapy Registry, or American Occupational Therapy Association) is required upon hire:
