MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)
Reviews all VWR products being exported by VWR International and its NA entities and provides all pertinent trade information required to be in full compliance with all applicable regulatory trade requirements.
Serves as the subject matter expert for export related inquiries from internal & external customers, third party service providers, including Customs Brokers, Bureau of Industry and Security, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), US Customs and Border Protection Regulations and Fish & Wildlife.
Provides assistance on other governmental agency requirements, e.g. CWC, DEA, FDA, EPA, FCC, F&W, embargoes, red flag issues, and other license, permit, and certification requirements.
Assists in providing guidance concerning the requirements and obligations of exporting under ITAR, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other US and non US export laws and requirements.
Prepares and monitors license applications and other requests for approval to the US Dept. of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security via SNAP-R.
Updates SAP and database on a continual basis.
Prepares monthly metrics and submit agency reports (i.e. annual CWC and others) as applicable.
Obtains & maintains export records and other trade related documents, certifications, and licenses.
Develops updates and maintains export control policies and procedures.
Keeps company appraised of new or modified government regulations.
Conducts internal (within NA and Europe) audits to ensure the company remains in compliance with all applicable export regulations.
Works with the managers to identify and develop global work processes for exports into their respective areas.
Performs other related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent/applicable experience
Minimum 3-6 years Export/Customs Brokerage experience preferred
Customs Brokerage License is preferred
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
Extensive knowledge of Federal import trade regulations, as enforced by various government agencies, including US Customs and Border Protection, Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protections Agency, United States Department of Agriculture, United States Fish and Wildlife Services, and others
Experience in application of regulatory requirements, forms, licenses and certifications affecting imported and exported products. Working knowledge/mastery of US Harmonized Tariff Classification & Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs).
Strong communication skills
Strong MS Office knowledge/ experience, in Access, Excel, Word.
Knowledge of export & licensing regulations, specifically EAR and Free Trade Zones
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
