Position Summary:

The Export and Trade Compliance Specialist position will report directly in to the Head of Export Control & Customs

  • Global. The position will be responsibility for managing the U.S Customs and Export Compliance Requirements for the Americas Operations. The position requires extensive knowledge of U.S. Customs Regulations, including, classification, free trade agreements, Country of Origin Requirements, Export Administrative Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and all applicable U.S. Customs rules. The ideal candidate will be based in the Miami, FLor Ashburn, VA office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, develop and maintain Import and Export Compliance Program in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and company guidelines.

  • Determine appropriate Import and Export classifications for all company products.

  • Auditing of Import and Export entries to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and implement, monitor and manage audit failures.

  • Responsible to develop and implement training and training aids for staff related to U.S. Customs Import and Export regulations.

  • Administer the Export Licensing Process to ensure authorizations are obtained from the U.S. Government in a fully compliant manner

  • Work with Shipping Team to maintain procedures to monitor shipments against Export Licenses

  • Assist with the collection and organization of documentation required to obtain Technical Assistance Agreements, Commodity Jurisdictions, Classification Requests, and other requests for approval to the Office of Defense Trade Controls, U.S. Dept. of State; the Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Office of Foreign Assets Controls.

  • Determine requirements of Exporting and Importing goods and services under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), U.S. Customs regulations, and other trade regulations.

  • Conduct periodic assessments of company and broker performance and Import/Export activities and direct other business and program activities that impact Import/Export compliance.

  • Identify, investigate, and review compliance aspects of any Import/Export activity. Support company Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism (CTPAT) program

  • Provide analysis, guidance and counseling on international trade/customs issues to Head of Transportation

  • Americas, and Compliance Team Manage all post entry projects
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Experience / Skills /Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable experience in aviation Imports/Exports required, 6 years preferred

  • A minimum of 3 years Trade Compliance experience required.

  • Must have working knowledge processing export applications, licenses, AES, and other US Export and Import Authorizationsrequired

  • Working knowledge of Commodity Classification(s) (CCATS - ECCN) - Trade Export A proven background in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) with experience auditing.

  • Supply Chain experience preferred.

  • Must possess intermediate to advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Vision, Power Point,and internet proficiency.

  • Working knowledge of SAP highly preferred Experience in an audit role, preferably in the aviation or other highly regulated industry.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and leadership skills required

  • Must have strong interpersonal attributes including high ethical standards and understanding of the business implications of decisions.

  • Ability to apply sound and accurate judgment including knowing when to include appropriate people in decision-making process.

Education / Special Qualifications:
(Certifications, Licenses, Clearances required):

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree desired or equivalent education combined with practical experience in the field of Export/Import.

  • The successful candidate must be a qualified Licensed Customs Broker
