Explorer @ Museum of Natural Curiosity

Pay Rate: $11 - $12/hour

Shift: Part-time, average of 15/week, may include weekends and holidays

As an Explorer at The Museum of Natural Curiosity (MoNC) at Thanksgiving Point, you will play a key role in creating a world class experience for our guests! You will welcome, guide, and engage our guest's curiosity as they explore more than 400 interactive experiences. You will gain valuable experience and essential skills in guest experience, customer service, events, facilitating learning experiences, helping kids of all ages to gain confidence in science and STEAM, and learning how to educate in innovative ways. Responsibilities:

• Interact with and engage visitors of all ages at MoNC and The Carousel to ignite family learning, guide exploration, and encourage critical thinking.

• Perform cashier duties with guests, process membership and group payments, and upsell attractions to guests.

• Monitor and assist guests while helping to maintain order and an excellent experience.

• Operate and add to guest enjoyment riding on The Carousel which includes enforcing rules with guests and performing safety checks.

• Foster and model curiosity to create positive, meaningful experiences in an organization where ideas are valued and explored.

• Facilitate during field trips and other programs offered at MONC

• Evaluate visitor experiences using appropriate tools and methodologies.

• Accept and include all guests as they are and welcome them without expectation or judgment.

• Collaborate with coworkers to provide an unparalleled guest experience.

• Be knowledgeable of Thanksgiving Point venues and activities and communicate these effectively to our guests.

• Exemplify Thanksgiving Point's mission, values, and policies.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Strong communication with a collaborative approach to the workplace, and ability to give and receive constructive feedback.

• Ability to work patiently in high-activity, high-energy, noisy environments.

• Comfort with initiating conversation with 'strangers' and enforcing safety procedures with kindness, energy, and acceptance.

• Readily learn money handling systems, follow guidelines, and use best practices.

• Experience teaching or facilitating learners of different ages and abilities in formal or informal learning environments is preferred.

• Physical demands may include climbing stairs, bending, standing for extended periods of time, and manipulating small objects.

• Comfortable working around and with children, families, and large crowds.

• Valid Utah Driver's License preferred.

• Must pass a background check.
