If you're looking to take your Network Designing skills to the next level. Look no further..... This is a very strategic role with one of our DOS customers. We are looking for the best and the brightest to fill this position. The Expert Network Designer will be responsible for the following.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must possess an active TS/SCI Fullscope Poly

  • 11+ years of experience as a Network Designer with system maintenance release experience.

  • Determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks. Plan and implement network upgrades. Design, test, and inspect the NRO's computer data communications systems. These systems include wide area networks (WANs), and local area networks (LANs), and internets. Analyze and organize the corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling and planning.

  • Adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands

  • Communicate with customers, sales staff, or marketing staff to determine customer needs

  • Communicate with vendors to gather information about products, to alert them to future needs, to resolve problems, or to address systems maintenance issues

  • Coordinate installation of new equipment

  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades

  • Coordinate network or design activities with designers of associated networks

  • Design, build, or operate equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operation systems

  • Design, organize, and deliver product awareness, skills transfer, and product education sessions for staff and suppliers

  • Determine specific network hardware or software requirements, such as platforms, interfaces, bandwidths, or routine schemas

  • Develop and implement solutions for network problems

  • Develop conceptual, logical, or physical network designs

  • Develop disaster recovery plans

  • Develop network related documentation

  • Develop or maintain project-reporting systems

  • Develop or recommend network security measures, such as firewalls, network security audits, or automated security probes

  • Develop plans or budgets for network equipment replacement

  • Develop procedures to track and report network availability, reliability, capacity, or utilization

  • Estimate time and materials needed to complete projects

  • Evaluate network designs to determine if requirements are met efficiently and effectively

  • Explain design specifications to integration or test engineers

  • Monitor and analyze network performance and data input/output reports to detect problems, identify inefficient use of computer resources, or perform capacity planning

  • Participate in network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware and software and integration testing

  • Prepare design presentations and proposals for staff or customers

  • Prepare detailed network specifications, including diagrams, charts, equipment configurations, and recommended technologies

  • Prepare or monitor project schedules, budgets, or cost control systems

  • Research and test new or modified hardware or software products to determine performance and interoperability

  • Supervise engineers and other staff in the design or implementation of network solutions

  • Use network computer-aided design (CAD) software packages to optimize network designs

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, design and recommend network and cabling infrastructure architecture.

  • Ability to develop and prepare complex technical documents, reports and proposals.

  • Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate and expediently resolve complex problems pertaining network systems configurations.

  • Ability to effectively monitor program/project development.

  • Ability to explain protocols, technical procedures and processes clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to translate technical terminology in terms understandable to management and technical staff and resources.

  • Considerable knowledge of Project Management concepts and principles.

  • Considerable knowledge of bandwidth application requirements, routing through network devices or Public Network Extensions.

  • Considerable knowledge of network operating systems.

  • Project planning and management skills, including scope of work, time estimation, and resource assignment.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts/theories for various projects.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead working groups, negotiate and create consensus.

  • Thorough knowledge of new network architectures and implementation of networked computer systems emphasizing multiple platform environments.

  • Thorough knowledge of the TCP IP protocol suite, IP subnets and masking, and routing protocols.

Education: General equivalency guidelines for education, certifications, and experience are provided below; however, these guidelines do not immediately qualify someone at a particular level. Skill levels for an individual are based upon a combination of education, training, and experience, e.g. someone may have 20 years of professional experience; however they may only be qualified as Full Performance based upon the expertise needed to perform the work within that category.General equivalency guidelines for education, certifications, and experience are provided below; however, these guidelines do not immediately qualify someone at a particular level. Skill levels for an individual are based upon a combination of education, training, and experience, e.g. someone may have 20 years of professional experience; however they may only be qualified as Full Performance based upon the expertise needed to perform the work within that category. General professional years of experience may be substituted for specialized years of experience at a ratio of three (3) years of general experience within an occupation for one (1) year of specialized experience. Relevant certifications will be considered equivalent to three (3) months of specialized experience. An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to eighteen (18) months specialized experience. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to three (3) years specialized experience (total equivalency is not cumulative when combined with an Associate's degree). A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to two (2) years specialized experience (up to a total of five (5) years when combined with a Bachelor's). A Doctorate in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to two (2) years specialized experience (up to a total of seven (7) years when combined with a Master's and a Bachelor's).

As a result of our continued success, we are seeking a Network Engineer to join the Network Engineering Group within one of our Government clients. The Network Engineer will conduct design, development, testing and documentation in support of engineering solutions, upgrades, and modifications of the client's IP/MPLS network to satisfy services growth and expansion in accordance with organizational objectives. The organization this position supports manages a system of integrated telecommunications networks in an effort to provide secure, reliable, and robust communications capabilities to United States Government Departments and agencies operating from Diplomatic and Consular facilities outside of the United States. Some of the services they offer their end customers include terrestrial, satellite and internet services, international direct-dialing, and Voice over IP (VOIP). Job duties: * Plan and coordinate major IP/MPLS network initiatives in accordance and collaboration with the architectural objectives of the organization. * Research, evaluate, and recommend new network equipment and technologies in support of the network. * Provide IP/MPLS network support of new and existing services and features. * Utilize monitoring, performance analysis, network management techniques, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate escalated issues, outages and network enhancement efforts. * Troubleshoot IP/MPLS network problems quickly and help provide sound engineering solutions by maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the existing IP/MPLS Network architecture, topology, and configuration details. * Support engineering level escalations for all operational outages in the client?s IP/MPLS network. * Meet regularly with other network team leads and engineers to plan and coordinate efforts, and communicate changes. * Provide internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to management and departmental clients. * Develop and execute contingency plans for network software and hardware upgrades. * Analyze current products and recommend changes/upgrades to management. * Keep abreast of relevant technologies and maintain selected technical certifications. * Document engineering solutions in accordance to in-house standards including but not limiting to the following documents: Detailed Engineering Requirements, Detailed Reference Design, and deliver detailed Integration Test Plan documents. * Conduct quality, comprehensive LAB tests to prove viability of proposed engineering solutions. Required Qualifications: * In depth understanding of IP networking including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS) * Working knowledge of IP/MPLS network QoS technology (RSVP, Queuing, and Traffic Policing). * Working knowledge of IP/MPLS network security / Firewalls. * Working knowledge of Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls. Desired Qualifications: * CCIE/JNCIE or equivalent demonstrated experience Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, Masters with 6 years, PhD with 4 years, or Associates with 10+ years of related experience Security Clearance: * Active Top Secret clearance with Full Scope Poly (FSP) is required * Must be within five years of the last clearance investigation.
