Department Overview

The Utility Partnerships and Innovation (UPI) team is focused on the creation of transformative, scalable solutions to interlocking utility challenges through the development of third-party partnerships and the deployment of new technology and solutions that directly accelerates PG&E's long-term strategy.

The New Revenue Development (NRD) organization is an entrepreneurial team in UPI whose purpose is to advance innovative uses of PG&E assets, resources, expertise and relationships. Through the products that NRD develops and manages, NRD has the opportunity to drive customer satisfaction, lower rates for PG&E's customers, and generate positive net revenue for PG&E shareholders.

Position Summary

Oversees construction and improvement projects in the transmission system and underground distribution system. Consults on project feasibility and project site details, coordinates with construction crews, oversees project inspectors, and on a project specific basis performs construction oversight. Assists with preparing job packages and construction estimates, conducts job walks, and meets with bidders, contractors, and governing agencies as needed. Ensures projects are completed per company standards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits and schedule.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. Work location will be determined by hiring leader and successful candidate.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $126,000

Bay Area Maximum: $200,000

And/Or

California Minimum: $120,000

California Maximum: $190,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Works autonomously, applying extensive unique subject matter expertise to solve unique and complex problems, anticipates issues and develops innovative solutions on projects in multiple disciplines such as civil, electrical, process instrumentation and pipeline construction management.

  • Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making.

  • Consults on cross-functional projects and initiatives. Acts as a thought leader; applying extensive and unique subject matter expertise in the development of strategy and resolution.

  • Maintains relationships with all management level staff to ensure accurate CET construction project details are communicated to stakeholders, ensuring all construction management services are provided timely.

  • Engages frequently with contracted construction vendor to ensure PG&E safety and all other standards are being met, providing guidance and feedback in a timely manner.

  • Provides constructability reviews, cost development, resource loading, coordinates schedules including establishment and updates of accurate milestone dates during the preconstruction/design phase of projects when needed.

  • Attends job scope walk downs, leads job scope discussions and attends engineering design reviews to provide constructability input.

  • Monitors construction activities and ensures construction operations meet the program's safety, quality, cost and schedule goals. Utilizes workload management database, updates any assigned projects, reviews workload analysis reports for action and manages full planning team process from inception via request for contract.

  • Oversees the inspection of the construction work. Coordinates the work of field inspectors to ensure adequate coverage of all work performed.

  • Provides mentoring to all other level employees.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 7 years or more of experience in the field of T&D Underground and Overhead utility systems

  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent of working time

  • Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW), Utility experience

Desired:

  • Experience in quality control, contracts

  • Experience in electric distribution, the PG&E Green Book, Underground and Overhead Standards, PG&E switching manual

  • Experience with SAP and ISN

  • Experience in contract administration

  • Experience in construction, industrial, 15 years
