A Core Tax Services Experienced Associate is responsible for utilizing his or her educational background as well as communication and organizational skills by assisting with the preparation of tax returns and research. In this role, the Core Tax Services Associate will be charged with utilizing basic research skills and working with tax software applications to complete simple tax returns for review.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting required

  • Masters degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred

Experience:

  • More than one (1) year of prior experience

Software:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat

  • Experience with tax research databases such as BNA and RIA Proficient in all tax compliance process software including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers

Other Knowledge, Skills Abilities:

  • Solid oral and written communication skills

  • Able to follow instructions as directed by members of Tax Team

  • Able to prepare simple tax returns

  • Takes appropriate actions without being asked

  • Seeks advice of appropriate superiors regarding issues, problems related to compliance

To optimize the financial performance of business operations, tax strategy and business strategy have to work together across a client enterprise. International Tax and Transaction Services, indirect and federal tax services make up the business offerings for our core Tax practice. We currently have a career opportunity for an Operational Excellence Project Coordinator in our International Tax and Transaction Services (ITTS) practice. ITTS provides a wide range of tax services for many of the world's largest multinational corporations. ITTS helps clients identify and address complex domestic and international tax issues and assists them in strategically aligning different areas of taxation. The EY organization has more than 100 foreign tax professionals from other jurisdictions who are working in the US as part of our foreign tax desk program. Responsibilities * Facilitate project communication * Set up internal and external meetings and/or conference calls * Prepare information packages for meetings * Collate and distribute necessary project materials to project team members (e.g., meeting agenda, prepare meeting minutes) * Develop and distribute project contact lists for internal and external use * Assist in developing materials for client presentations * Prepare PowerPoint presentations * Prepare organizational charts * Prepare client binders * Assist in developing engagement letters, work plans and step plans * Assist project manager (PM) in developing a project plan, an engagement letter, a statement of work and similar documents * Solicit information from project team members and work with individuals to prepare work plans and step plans * Update and revise the work plans and step plans throughout project * Assist in preparing status reports * Collect information from project team members to monitor potential out-of-scope issues that may arise * Financial management: * Assist in developing project budgets through Mercury Pricing Plan * Solicit budgets from US teams, groups and foreign desks * Use Pricing Plan to manage engagement economics and budget * Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets * Assist with preparation of Estimate to Complete analysis * Assist in preparing client invoices * Monitor out-of-scope issues * Coordinate and track non-US invoices * Communicate with PM on an ongoing basis with respect to budgeting * Set up and maintain project management tools * Assist with preparing EY Interact My Documents files and ensure all quality sign-offs To qualify, candidates must have: * A bachelor's degree with preferably with one to two years of related work experience * A degree or certification with an emphasis on Project Management or related discipline * Strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency and an eye for quality * Strong numbers acumen, budgetary experience and analytical skills (Excel intermediate skills are a must) * Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills Ernst & Young LLP, an equal opportunity employer, values the diversity of our workforce and the knowledge of our people.
