The Boeing Company is seeking a highly productive, self-motivated Experienced Systems and Software Engineer / Architect for the Advanced Information Technology (AIT) Program located in Huntington Beach, CA (with plans to relocate to Seal Beach, CA within ~1-2 years). As a Systems and Software Architect, you will be part of an amazing, collaborative team and work with multiple engineering and support groups on both on-going operational efforts and exciting future projects for a highly valued, dynamic program using world-class computing services to support a proprietary customer. You will have the rare opportunity to develop the next generation of High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems and will work with PhD-level analysts, engineers, and scientists from around the United States of America to define the most optimal computing and storage requirements. As an architect, you will also work with computing, storage, and high performance networking system vendors to understand current state-of-the-art capabilities and work with program teammates to develop and implement the system architecture that will meet the needs of the program's user communities.
Integrates (high performance) computing systems to support scientific analysis and software development activities, with an emphasis in configuring and tuning (high performance) computing and storage systems
Uses application/tool development including, but not limited to, requirements analysis, GUI design, relational database design, code, test, configuration management, deployment, and maintenance
Works with scientists, engineers, and analysts in coding and debugging algorithms in parallel processing environments
Works with other organizations in developing system requirements and vendor statements of work (SOWs)
Collaborate effectively within a small team environment as well as work multiple tasks independently with minimal direction
Use creative, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills across a broad domain of software development activities
Apply a logical approach in solving challenging problems
Apply systems engineering best practices to fine-tune (high performance) computing and storage systems to achieve the highest performance possible
Apply strong communication skills to work with other organizations in developing software requirements, write informative documentation and to provide training and support to end users
Apply software best practices to develop secure code and scripts that can be used in the Unix/Linux production workflow
Use the following technologies as needed: high performance computing processing and storage environments, parallel file systems, SQL, ColdFusion, Oracle, Perl / Python / shell scripting, JQuery, Bootstrap, C/C++, Java
Use Microsoft OS Environments: Unix/Linux (RHEL) and Windows
Address and develops solutions for computing security requirements (e.g., Risk Management Framework (RMF))

Required Qualifications, Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
This position requires an active/current DoD Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance and/or a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed within the last 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Current/Active Security+ CompTIA Certification
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related scientific or technical discipline
Experience with (high performance) computing, networking, and storage concepts and architectures (e.g., HPC storage and HPC architecture)
Minimum of 5 years' experience with software development in a parallel processing environment
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Preferred (Desired) Qualifications:
Experience with defining and integrating computing and storage systems
Experience with one or more of the following technologies is needed: (high performance) computing processing and storage environments, parallel file systems, and Perl / Python / shell scripting
Experience with OS Environments: Unix/Linux (RHEL) and Windows
Experience with computing security requirements
Expertise in networking, computing, and storage systems engineering
Experience with installing, configuring, integrating and maintaining IBM's Spectrum Scale parallel file systems into a (high performance) computing environment
Experience with large scale, high performance storage systems
