Role Overview:
  • This Experienced Revenue Accountant role falls within the Finance team, which includes Treasury, Financial Planning, and Accounting.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Companys revenue recognition policies, performing day-to-day revenue team tasks & initiatives, providing support around audit requests, and ensuring the proper recognition and associated costs related to the Companys contracts.
  • Assist management to maintain processes and procedures for accurate and timely revenue recognition and associated expense accounting, utilizing financial applications such as PeopleSoft Query and nVision tools.
  • Work to understand various product offerings and revenue/expense streams to ensure proper revenue recognition and product code setup in the financial system in accordance with the Companys revenue recognition policies.
  • Assist with closing of monthly revenue and expense ledgers within rigorous closing schedules and prepare revenue and expense journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Review sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with the Companys policies and assist with quarterly year-end financial statement audit/review processes, ensuring that all support is prepared in a timely manner and deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with other members of the finance team and answer revenue and expense recognition questions around the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue forecasts.
  • Assist with documentation of the Companys revenue recognition policies for its product offerings as well as internal controls affecting the revenue accounting process.
  • Support the revenue recognition team throughout the adoption and implementation of the new revenue recognition standard (ASC 606) and prepare and understand journal entries and expense schedules for the Companys royalty arrangements.
Candidate

Requirements:
  • An Active CPA license
  • Public accounting experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with Peoplesoft or Oracle Financials is a plus
  • Technical accounting knowledge (revenue recognition, accrual accounting, bad debts, royalty expenses, deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, sales commissions, etc.) is desired
  • Has strong motivational, communication, and organizational skills
  • Can multi-task and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Has considerable accounting experience or experience in a relevant position
  • Is skillful in Excel, general ledger/accounting systems, and other MS Office products
  • Is detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Can work with varying levels of employees and management

MAS supports the accounting function for a variety of diverse clients, primarily in the nonprofit sector. This is a great opportunity for a Staff/Senior Accountant, Auditor or Assistant Controller who is looking for challenging, yet highly rewarding work. The ideal candidate will possess a high aptitude for learning new systems and processes, is comfortable interfacing with C-Suite executives and boards, and is comfortable working in a deadline driven environment.<br></p><p><strong>Job Summary:</strong></p><p>The Managed Accounting Services Staff Accountant supports the engagement team who serves as the Accounting Department for a variety of clients. The Staff II Accountant is primarily responsible for collecting, reconciling, and summarizing accounting information, and entering data into different accounting software. The Staff Accountant can be involved with training and overseeing Staff I Accountants and Interns. The work of the Staff Accountant is performed in the Raffa offices but can involve travel to client sites. </p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul> <li>Assists client engagement team on the month end closing procedures.</li> <li>Maintains supporting schedules and reconciliations for most balance sheet accounts. </li> </ul><ul> <li>Prepares all required journal entries including but not limited to payroll, depreciation, and expensing of prepaid items.</li> <li>Assists with generating financial statements.</li> <li>Processes Accounts Payable for client: reviews, codes and processes A/P check requests on a reoccurring basis. </li> <li>Processes Accounts Receivable invoices and maintains AR system records for clients: reviews, codes and processes cash receipts on a reoccurring basis.</li> <li>Assists the engagement team in the annual preparation of client’s budgets.</li> </ul><ul><li>Assists external auditors at year end with preparing schedules, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications </strong><i>(Education, experience, certifications)</i><strong>:</strong></p><ul> <li>A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other related education.</li> <li>CPA or CPA Candidate. </li> <li>2+ years of Accounting experience preferably in Public Accounting or a Non-Profit organization.</li> <li>Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications</li> <li>Proficient with various accounting software programs including QuickBooks, Intacct Sage 50, Solomon and Great Plains.</li> </ul><ul><li>An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Marcum works hard to keep our compensation and benefit programs competitive with today’s market.</p> <p>At Marcum, you'll find a competitive salary, benefits and 401(k) retirement savings plan.
