The Core Tax Services Experienced Manager is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. In this role, Core Tax Services Experienced Manager is charged with applying knowledge to understand potential tax issues, and recognizing, communicating potential risks and potential changes in the tax policy and making top-level decisions regarding filing, preparation and resolution of questions from federal / state agencies. In addition, the Core Tax Services Experienced Manager will be critical member of the office / region leadership team and actively participate in the marketing, networking and business development within an area of expertise and specialization while maintaining client relationships and acting as the primary contact for complex questions.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other relevant field required

  • Master's degree in Accounting beneficial, masters degree in taxation preferred

Experience:

  • More than six (6) years of prior public accounting experience

  • Prior supervisory experience required

License/Certifications:

  • CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") (or the equivalent of one of these designations) required

  • Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role beneficial

Software:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat

  • Experience with tax research databases such as BNA and RIA Proficient in all tax compliance process software including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers

Serves as a liaison between employers-brokers-consultants and the internal operations staff for the plan; communicating benefits, providing claims cost reports and experience rating exhibits. Also services the account on a day-to-day basis for issues regarding billing, claims, and eligibility. Essential Responsibilities: Uses basic understanding of BSC and BSC product value propositions based on member preferences (contributions, how they use the plan) Uses basic understanding of upcoming developments in the healthcare market (healthcare reform, state and local healthcare legislation, new entrants, customer need shifts). Understands how they may impact competitor's benefit offering and member eligibility Facilitates open enrollment / client / health fair meetings primarily in Southern California (Counties included but not limited to: Orange, San Diego, Inland Empire, and Los Angeles) with travel to Northern California and out-of-state events as needed. Anticipates client questions and can provide in-depth responses Maintains relationship with stakeholders. Communicates with client's internal operations staff (e.g. HR) Asks basic questions to understand client needs (e.g. during meetings with clients). Effectively trains clients on specific billing, claims and service processes Effectively solicits client survey feedback after administering open enrollment meetings Uses available resources to complete back-office tasks and solve problems (i.e. monthly reporting for clients). Basic understanding of BSC tools and systems: Shield Link, Shield Central, FACETs Uses basic understanding of processes that involve other functional groups: EDI, HDR, I&B, UW, Marketing, Markets, HCQA, Networks Team Uses resources on Shield Central, has basic understanding of some contacts in other departments Education/Experience: Bachelor degree and typically 2 plus years related experience, preferably in sales, marketing or health plan administration or equivalent combination of education and experience and sales management experience. Knowledge of the health care industry and related benefit products and services. Familiarity with case installation process. Current Life Agent License with California Department of Insurance and valid California driver's license and proof of insurance is required. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
