Job Description

Candidate will work with a multi-discipline Integrated Product Team [IPT] to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet the quality requirements of the Original Engineering Manufactured (OEM) parts. This position assists in developing innovative repair solutions for all P&W Commercial and Military jet engines in order to economically return the engine to service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating & Manipulating complex solid models

  • Inspection and repair markups, including comments and graphics, to provide guidance for structural analysis of the repairs. This includes obtaining internal approvals, facilitating government approval, and coordination with the repair sources

  • Assist in creating technical documents that will provide engineering requirements for repairs. Familiarity with typical repair and manufacturing processes including welding, brazing, riveting, and coating processes including plasma spray a plus

  • Interfacing and coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines to promote the exchange of necessary data in support if engine builds.

  • Technical data review & interpretation

Experience/Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret repair requirements read and interpret part blue prints

  • Ability to understand, apply and interpret ASME Y14.5M standards

  • Have strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T)

  • Have technical writing skills

  • Familiarity with MS Office products and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills

  • A working-knowledge of gas turbine engine operating theory

  • Standard operating procedures, root-cause analysis, mistake-proofing is desired

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, time management skills and the ability to work well with multi-disciplinary groups is required

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • 8 or more years of relevant experience is preferred

  • US Citizen

Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) is looking for Repair Design Engineers for Commercial Rotor Repair. This position involves developing market-differentiating innovative repair schemes leading to sales growth within P&W's Global Repair Services network. This position provides a great opportunity to have a tangible effect on P&W's aftermarket business and impact on P&W's airline customers. This position requires innovative and collaborative engineering skills along with office and shop floor hands-on experience. This position will develop innovative repair solutions and provide technical requirements for rotor repair development. This engineer will work closely with the current Design Leads and other engineering disciplines to make the necessary technical decisions and tech data that meet the safety, quality and customer needs. The team also provides expert guidance and support of career growth, identifying opportunities, and employee well-being. Key Responsibilities: * Person is responsible for the development of repairs for commercial gas turbine engine parts, and including development of the repair concept, writing of the repair, obtaining internal approvals, obtaining FAA regulatory approval, and coordination with the end user. * Confers and liaises with senior engineers, customers, and other stakeholders to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products and design-related issues and opportunities. * Develops or improves repair development processes and Engineering Standard Work. * Research operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service. * Create technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs. * Interface with commercial product line management (PLM) and rotor repair shops to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues. * Support the customer in the resolution of field supportability issues. * Utilize modeling tools to understand critical rotor characteristics.
