About Role

The Howden Re Modeling and Analytics Team is unmatched in the industry in facilitating catastrophe reinsurance placements while also being integrally embedded within our clients' operations. Howden Re employs cutting edge technology in a collaborative environment; striving always to develop solutions and present ideas that align with our clients' core philosophy of profitable growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide robust technical and strategic support for Catastrophe risk management and modeling.

  • Offer in-depth insights into risk assessment results, including vendor and non-vendor models, elucidating assumptions and limitations.

  • Contextualize model outcomes and industry trends to educate clients and brokers effectively.

  • Develop models and tools to aid clients and cat modelers in effectively managing catastrophe risks.

  • Enhance analytical processes to optimize efficiency and deliver superior results for clients.

  • Effectively Communicate analytics concepts to diverse audiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience, or Master's degree in a mathematics, engineering, or science-related field with 1+ years of experience.

  • Proficiency in Earthquake Science, Meteorology, or Hydrology.

  • Experience in catastrophe model building or analytical/quantitative modeling within the insurance or related industry.

  • Expertise in Statistical/Probabilistic Risk Modeling.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and manipulation using tools such as SQL and Excel.

  • Proficient programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.

  • Knowledge of GIS preferred, with experience in ArcGIS a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
