Job Title: Expeditor/ Supervisor

Job Classification: Exempt

Status: Full Time M-F 6am - 2p

Supervisor: Executive Chef

Qualifications:
Culinary training program graduate or equivalent on-the-job experience. Must hold a valid Maryland drivers license with reliable transportation. Demonstrated ability to gather and organize food and smallwares from the kitchen and pack it for transportation to event sites. Working knowledge of industry software programs, including Microsoft Excel. Ability to manage staff and the kitchen facility including inventory control of all products. Ability to relate well to staff, vendors and clients of different races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, and religions.

The Expeditor/ Supervisor will work with the Culinary and Hospitality Teams to ensure all orders are going out on time and that both the quality and quantity of food prepared is correct. Accordance with delivery timeline is essential. The Expeditor/ Supervisor will supervise the Drivers and Utility Workers to maintain standards, cleanliness, and organization of the entire facility including the delivery vehicles.

  • Maintain ServSafe certification

  • Understanding of HACCP and sanitation

  • Ability to work independently with broad guidance and to carry out necessary kitchen duties

  • Familiarity with state and local food health and safety requirements

  • Experience driving a large van and small box truck

  • Experience setting up and breaking down catered events

  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail

  • Supervisory experience

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Timely expediting of outgoing deliveries for all order types (wholesale, catering drop-offs, events, and other)

  • Schedule and coordinate all delivery and pickup of any equipment

  • Proper storage and handling of food and kitchen smallwares

  • Safely expedite food per HACCP requirements and food safety regulations

  • Correctly check food product for quality and quantity based on items required per event order

  • Check event order against food to be delivered and alert Kitchen of any discrepancies

  • Properly store product in walk in and storage areas until the time of delivery

  • Report any malfunctions or repairs needed to refrigeration and food storage areas to supervisor

  • Promptly notify supervisor and relevant account manager/ representative of late deliveries or any issues with the products

  • Keep all areas of expediting clean, well-organized and properly maintained at all times

  • Maintain all production, temperature, and shipping logs

  • Ensure that facility is being properly maintained, including cleanliness, proper food storage and product rotation. Complete daily checklist and notify supervisor/ upper management of issues.

  • Control waste by monitoring trash, recycling, and compost, and implementing waste reducing procedures.

  • Personnel Management

  • Hire, train, and supervise delivery drivers and utility workers

  • Assess ongoing training needs and provide/ arrange as needed

  • Review and approve time-sheets/ leave requests/ other personnel forms for reporting staff

  • Review and monitor reporting staff performance

  • Promote staff development and team cohesion

  • Fill in for missed shifts and support during busy times/ days as needed

D. Agency/Team Cohesion

  • Meet daily with Culinary management team to review outgoing order specifics

  • Meet weekly with Hospitality management team to review orders and needs

  • Maintain communication with other department staff regarding clients status/needs.

  • Participate in departmental team meetings.

E. Other duties as assigned

Work of this class involves supervising community health nurses, health aides and office support personnel. Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed primarily in an office where there are no uncomfortable environmental conditions; however incumbents are required to make visits to field sites where illness, disease or stressful situations may be encountered. Work requires minimal physical exertion. Selection Process All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their applications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The license, training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity.
