ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed and appointed physical education teacher or other subject certified teacher
SELECTION CRITERIA:
At least three (3) years of satisfactory experience within NYCDOE.
Understanding of Physical Education curricular and instructional models, NYC PE Scope and Sequences and the Move-to-Improve program.
Experience using data to help inform program planning (e.g., NYCFITNESSGRAM, Professional Learning Event Data)
Experience in designing and delivering teacher professional learning sessions in a variety of modalities (remote, in-person and/or hybrid).
Knowledge and understanding of national and NYSED PE standards.
Experience with reviewing instructional resources.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (e.g., Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and other relevant applications.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
Priority given to current Office of School Wellness Programs staff.
Plus:
Knowledge of professional learning communities (PLCs) and adult learning principles.
Experience implementing Office of School Wellness programs and related events.
Experience integrating Move-to-Improve activities in the classroom.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and design virtual and/or in-person professional learning to support the implementation of health-related fitness curricula, PE Scope and Sequences, Move-to-Improve, PLCs and social-emotional learning practices.
Research, review and/or develop resources for Physical Education instruction and Move-to-Improve.
Review, interpret and apply research on current trends in the field of physical education for program planning and design.
Support updating Wellness Hub apps including and not limited to NYCFITNESSGRAM or Event Manager online tools, and any accompanying supporting resource (e.g. ZenDesk, FreshDesk, etc).
Support in creating, editing, and updating instructional resources on NYCPS websites and platforms (e.g., WeTeachNYC, WeLearnNYC, TeachHub, etc.)
Develop and update policy guidance as needed.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
WORK SCHEDULE:
July 12 - October 2024
Approximately 50 hours are available per person, but not limited to that amount. Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
Specific hours and schedules are not guaranteed. Schedule, location, and hours to be determined and will remain subject to change based on project and funding availability.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
