POSITION:
Teacher
Adapted Physical Education Coordinator
Approximately 2 positions available.
Office of School Wellness Programs
Supervisor: Jana Moran
LOCATION:
Approved Office of School Wellness Programs Locations
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed and appointed physical education teacher. Central Offices Staff.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
At least three (3) years of satisfactory experience within NYCDOE.
Experience working with students with disabilities in physical educational settings.
Understanding of federal and state laws and regulations for special education.
Familiarity with state and national guidance for general and adapted physical education.
Knowledge and experience scheduling physical education and/or adapted physical education.
Experience with IEP processes including writing and informing student goals and present levels of performance.
Skilled at developing user friendly teacher tools to support student assessment and data collection.
Demonstrated knowledge of 2020 NYSED PE Learning standards and NYC PE Scope and Sequences.
Experience designing professional learning activities for teachers, school staff and administrators.
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and/or Access.
Priority given to current Office of School Wellness Programs staff.
Plus:
Deep understanding of the application of universal design in physical education.
Experience supporting new teachers.
Knowledge of the various curricular and instructional models in physical education.
Ability to meet deadlines and provide feedback in writing in a timely manner.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Refine and/or develop teacher tools to support student learning and progress monitoring.
Refine and/or develop tools to support teacher and student scheduling.
Analyze student data for teacher assignments.
Communicate with school administrators about student needs and teacher assignments.
Review and revise physical education policy guidance.
Review developmentally appropriate student evaluation tools.
Propose and plan to restart events for students with disabilities.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
WORK SCHEDULE:
July - August 2024
Monday-Friday TBD
Hours up to, but not limited 20 hours per position. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
