Nemours is seeking an Exercise Physiologist (Cardiology), FULL-TIME, to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.

Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children's Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area's only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children's Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.

To provide graded exercise testing, counseling, and exercise prescription to children with varying degrees of illness. Provide supervision and evaluation to patients referred for supervised exercise. Serve as a resource person for the hospital and community physicians regarding physiological and exercise issues. Participate in counseling in the preventive cardiology clinic. Design, implement and complete clinical and basic research projects.

Write, submit and present research papers at professional meetings. Responsible for participating in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation. Additional responsibilities include scheduling patients, patient care activities and performance of the exercise laboratory services.

  • Coordinate daily operations of the exercise lab, including, but not limited to, scheduling of patient testing, overseeing all aspects of exercise lab testing and communicating with all vendors to ensure quality control and functioning of all laboratory equipment.

  • Act as liaison with referring physicians and assist Medical Director with coordinating intradepartmental referrals.

  • Ensure competence in the training and supervision of personnel as well as coordinate internship programs for students.

  • Record and generate reports to be distributed to referring physicians and medical records.

  • Economical Utilization and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.

  • Assure proper usage , maintenance and cleaning of exercise lab equipment in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and Nemours' Policies Procedures and Practices.

  • Participation in departmental and hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement working with department management and the Medical Director to improve services provided.

  • Provide age specific and appropriate care to infants, children and adolescents.

  • Make recommendations, when appropriate, for exercise programming and/or nutritional counseling.

  • Coordinate research related studies and follow up, participating in documentation, publication and presentation of research study results.

  • Evaluate the functional capacity of patients with a variety of medical conditions.

  • Utilize the metabolic cart, spirometer, 12-lead ECG, blood pressure cuff, and pulse oximeter to assess functional capacity.

  • Complete Exercise Physiology Lab administrative duties.

  • Teaching of interns and residents through didactic and "hands on" experience.

Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree required.

  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years' experience required.

  • ACSM-CEP preferred.

  • AHA BLS certification required.
