The Exercise and Sports Injury Lab (EASIL) is seeking applications for a post-doctoral research associate to join our group to work primarily on a NIH funded clinical trial to study the efficacy of a 12-week video game-based rehabilitation program for patients with knee joint osteoarthris. The position will be for at least 1 year with high likelihood for a second year based on successful completion of enrollment and availability of funds. This post-doctoral position is a focused experience in lower extremity neuromuscular assessment, EMG-based biofeedback, rehabilitation and clinical trials.

EASIL is housed in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Virginia. Our lab group includes 6 faculty, approximately 10 doctoral students, research coordinators and multiple undergraduate research assistants.

We have strong and long-standing collaborative relationships with faculty in the UVA Schools of Engineering and School of Medicine, especially with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Research teams often include scientists and clinicians from diverse backgrounds and experiences. The Kinesiology department houses a direct-admit 4-year undergraduate major in addition to a pan-university minor in health and well-being. There are also 3 masters programs, one of which is a professional level masters program in Athletic Training.

The successful applicant must have a terminal degree (PhD) in kinesiology, exercise science, sports medicine, biomechanics or related field and have experience working in a clinical research setting with patients. Candidates must demonstrate ability to work in a multidisciplinary research team and must be an effective communicator.

Clinical credentials (ATC, PT, etc) are preferred. Experience with coding or software development is a plus but not required. Strong writing skills and a history of abstract presentations at professional conferences and published manuscripts in top peer reviewed journals is also preferred.

Complete a Candidate Profile online, attach a cover letter, curriculum vitae, contact information for three references and a cover letter describing your goals for seeking post-doctoral training.
