Edelman New York is looking for an Executive Vice President to lead the digital team in our Corporate division. We are seeking an experienced leader with deep digital expertise in B2B, corporate, public affairs and issue campaigns. You will play an integral role in strategically guiding the work and teams to achieve client objectives, act as a thought leader to provide sound and proactive counsel to clients, and lead by example to inspire our agency teams to deliver their best work every day.

You will lead the digital team including strategy and planning, creative, social content, paid media, digital analytics, technology and development, production, operations, media and editorial. You are responsible for driving culture, sourcing the best talent and ultimately, growing the business at rapid pace, during a time of industry-wide disruption. In this role you will create content through discovery, guided by insight, and delivered through multiple storytelling channels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and expand the C&PA digital practice.

  • Manage, develop and motivate a dedicated team of digital specialists and collaborate with specialists including creative, paid and analytics.

  • Exhibit broad understanding of the digital space, latest trends and changes in advocacy and issue campaigns.

  • Build strong relationships with clients as the senior client relationship manager.

  • Play a major role in the research, planning and development of comprehensive digital and social programs.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership in developing business opportunities and operationalizing programs for clients.

  • Lead new business efforts including prospecting, proposal writing and pitching.

  • Actively manage existing client accounts including profitability, client budgets and expenses.

  • Identify key strategic marketing opportunities for the digital practice to increase new business leads, including identifying and participating in relevant conferences and industry events.

  • Serve as a member of the C&PA leadership team.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • 15 years of experience at an interactive, digital advertising and/or digital PR agency, with a track record in being a category expert and business strategist.9 years of experience managing and leading integrated teams.

  • In-depth experience with integrated marketing and communications programs including strategic development, creative development, analysis and implementation.

  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful digital and social strategies and programs.

  • Expertise in marketing and sales; knowledge of marketing strategy and tactics; employs consultative sales techniques.

  • Relationship builder, demonstrating an ability to listen and respond to a wide variety of constituencies.

  • Strong communicator and presenter, able to present and articulate persuasive and cohesive presentations and points of view that ultimately close the sale.

  • Candid communicator who can organize, clarify and communicate complex ideas quickly, succinctly and accurately.

  • Exhibits sound business judgment to navigate through everyday client and team challenges, including scope creep and internal inefficiencies.

  • Comfortable taking appropriate risks and making tough decisions when required.

  • Track record of strength in business development, demonstrated through YoY financial account growth.

  • Experienced at managing budgets and client P&Ls.

VIEW JOBS 1/14/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-14T00:00 Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Public Affairs, the Executive Director for Public Affairs will manage the Department of Communications' public affairs, social media and video teams. The Executive Director for Public Affairs will direct the development and promotion of content that tells the Columbia story, including campus life, research, history and the university's leadership role in higher education (this portfolio is subject to change). The incumbent will work closely with the Executive Directors for Digital Services and News under the direction of the Executive Vice President for Public Affairs to identify opportunities for collaboration between the teams and to create strategic opportunities with internal and external partners. The Executive Director for Public Affairs also will work with other communications leaders from around the University to leverage opportunities and priorities. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Public Affairs Oversee the public affairs team, which promotes news, announcements, events and other items of interest related to Columbia. Oversee a strategic planning process that identifies and develops content ideas through collaboration with departments and institutes from around Columbia. Work with Executive Directors of News and Digital Services to develop a project management apparatus and new communications products to better execute those ideas. Social Media Oversee the social media team, guiding the development of tools like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to maximize their impact. Video Oversee the video team, guiding the workflow based on University priorities and digital communications best practices. Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Bachelor's degree or advanced degree, plus a minimum of ten years of experience in journalism or communications. Extensive experience in digital media required. Must have a track record of creating and promoting content for digital platforms, including social media. Must have management experience. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills required. Must be experienced at senior-level presentations.
