The Hartford's Middle & Large Commercial (MLC) segment provides comprehensive, multiline commercial insurance coverage for midsize and larger businesses, associations and organizations. MLC's core offerings include property, general liability, workers' compensation, auto, umbrella liability, cyber and marine protection, as well as specialty coverages for target industry segments, including technology, life sciences, construction, energy and multinational.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the marketing, underwriting and servicing of Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIPs), Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIPs) also commonly referred to as Construction Wrap-ups, and Loss Sensitive Programs.
Marketing includes the identification of key Wrap-up and Loss Sensitive Agents within the Southern US, implementation of a well-defined marketing plan, and point of sale activities with the goal of generating strong production flow and successfully writing quality Wrap-up projects.
Underwriting includes the evaluation of large construction project and practice program exposures and controls to generate pricing and rating plan parameter recommendations. Lines of coverage to be underwritten include Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Commercial Auto and Umbrella.
Servicing includes working in conjunction with the Wrap-up and Loss Sensitive service team to ensure the quality delivery of Loss Control, Claim, Audit and Underwriting deliveries.
Qualifications:
4 year undergraduate degree with a focus in business or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years' commercial construction underwriting experience
In-depth knowledge of loss sensitive rating plans
Prior experience underwriting loss sensitive Construction accounts required; Construction Wrap-Up underwriting experience preferred
Strong mathematical aptitude
Sales and marketing experience
Able to travel 25%

Salary $94,240 - $178,200
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$94,240 - $178,200
The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
